Slave Radian Power Consumption

Post by AllPawDrive » Tue Aug 04, 2020 3:45 pm

When a radian is placed in slave mode, if the master radian is handling the load and has not commanded the slave radian to provide power, does the slave use the idle power consumption of 34W or the off power consumption of 4W?

Thanks,

Dave

Dave, with two Radians and a big battery bank are really concerned about 30W. Just kidding.

Starting on p.38 of the current GS8048a Operator Manual there is a good discussion of the Power Save function. It does state the following:

"Each inverter consumes approximately 30 watts of idle power while it remains on, even if it is not actively inverting or charging. The Power Save function allows the option to put part of a parallel system into a quiescent state known as Silent mode. This mode minimizes the idle consumption. The inverters will come on again when the loads require power."

Not sure where you found the "4W" number but it does reduce the power when the slaves are idle.

From page 57 of the version of the manual currently on outback’s website. Too large to attach.

Thanks for the heads up. I was still using the 2014 Operator's manual. Outback moved most of the "Power Save" section from the 2014 Operator's manual to the 2017 Installation manual.
