Please get an https certificate for your website(s). Your forms (like the one I just filled out for support with my contact info and this forum) are sending data in clear text out across the nasty internet. Please spend a few bucks and get a certificate and protect our data. Thanks. :-)

Seconded. I had an email exchange with an Outback web tech. back in August 2018 about this, and again on the forum a few months ago, but no follow through.

I do web development professionally and installing an SSL certificate on a web server is not hard. Let's Encrypt (https://letsencrypt.org) offers them at no cost.

Thank you.

It's important for both of us. Customer and company. Our data is at risk, and your web address has a big red !Not Secure in the browser address, which is nearly unheard of these days and will send potential customers elsewhere...

Looking forward to seeing that little lock icon next to your web address indicating a properly secured web site. :-)

Hard to believe such a company would host with GoDaddy anyway in the first place?
Most 'proper' hosting companies now provide the "S" standard in any hosting package now days.
Having said that .... it only takes one attachment being put up from a non-secure source to 'break' the secure notice.

Hello all,

The OutBack forum is hosted on a system with several other Alpha/OutBack sites. It's in the process of being shifted to a different hosting and at that time, a security certificate will be added to this site (rather than adding it to the existing (old) site and then redoing it shortly thereafter).

It's coming, there are other moving parts involved, thanks so much for your continued patience.

It's not about hard so much as about bureaucracy and moving pieces.

Heh! I was contracting at a very large software house in Redmond, WA. that made operating systems and application software. We were working on an infrastructure project to update certain aspects of DNS and web site security. Working on a Saturday, I noticed their root security cert was set to expire - that day. I managed to make myself domain admin and purchase a cert renewal on my credit card.

In a very real sense, for some beaurocratic bumbling and $35, I owned their whole domain for a week.

I did not like the situation very well.

Bureaucracy. Ha. You wanna see bureaucracy, come work with me. I'm Middleware at a major bank. You have no idea...

Thanks for taking care of this though, and sorry to stir up a few hornets.
