12 vdc Aux Relay

Post by JRHill » Fri Apr 12, 2019 12:19 pm

Hey folks, this just popped up on Amazon while I was checking out on an order:

https://www.amazon.com/Absolute-Holder- ... D16MRWB89H

Whether you need it now or not, pretty good deal for the relay, connector/harness and fuse link in a two pack.

Best,
Jim

How much current does the coil draw?

Are the contacts rated for more than 12Vdc?

Are the fuses/fuse holders rated for more than 12Vdc?

Using this relay to control a 48Vdc or 120Vac load might let out the magic smoke. I would expect a fair amount of heat in that relay if you are running at 30A.

At $9 for a 2 pack one must consider the reliability and suitability. But I have one in service for my AGS and have also used the same for turning on a 120vac outlet for appliances when in Float. It IS considered an automotive relay with a 12vdc coil (a few milliamps) and the relay contacts are rated for 12v 40 amp inductive and 60 for lighting, etc. They've certainly been reliable for my use which has been light duty as far as switched loads.

My usage will be similar, more to signal other circuits and provide isolation, than for actual load management.

I usually always take cheap Chi-com parts with a large grain of MSG.
