Reboot it?

Remove all DC power (array and battery -- array first on the disconnect, last on the reconnect) and count to 30 in between turning off and turning on. It doesn't seem all that likely to me that the entire keypad died at the same time. If a reboot doesn't work, THEN it's time to consider problems with the keypad.

Rog

I have the same problem only the display light is coming on when i push the buttons , nothing else i can modify any more

Did try what Julie said but no change .....

Its my second display failure in a Outback MX 60

Did you contact your supplier about warranty ?

Mine stays quiet after my two emails ](*,) , as far as i am aware it is not so easy to just get a replacement display ( or ?)

All the best and i hope everything else is working ok

I have the same problem with my MX60 except this is only on the menu button which is non-responsive. I tried the reboot but to no avail.

I have a similar problem. The buttons have been getting less and less responsive over time, and now don't switch at all. I think it is the switch mechanism wearing out or other switch mechanism problem. I never did care for these soft buttons switches, and now it appears that there is good reason.

Got the same issue with my FM80. I was waiting till winter to do some thing about it as I dint want to be without it for any length of time. But I thought I would email support to see if it was an easy swap & I could do it my self. Well just a few hours later I get a reply saying that they will send me one to swap out with mine so that I dint need to be unit less for any time.

10/10 Outback for brill customer support.

Outback told me that I would have to send my MX60 in to them and they would fix it for $163. They didn't say how long it would take, but anything more than a day is too long to be without the associated array of PVs charging my battery. Not sure what I will do, it sure is a nuisance not to be able to set the MX60 to do an equalizing charge or read any of the displays. I am not a happy camper.

I have to sent the MX away as well and pay for the repair , it took me a while to find out that the old MX has "only" 2 years warranty , and was thinking its 5 years like for the FM Models ](*,)

But not too bad here in my setup cause i can use second controller i have (FM80) to do the equalizing charge

It appears there are some problems with these program buttons. This is not good.

I have had the same problems on my FlexMax80. It started out with one button going bad but I could get it to work by wiggling it around. Well now all 4 buttons have crapped out on me.

Honestly I did not like the soft button set-up when I first got my controller. I thought they were a bit cheap and didn't think they would last. I was right. I must admit I rarely used them...nothing more than quick maintainence scan once a day (maybe twice in winter) and I change my settings twice a year (for winter vs summer). So they really did not see a whole lot of use.

I went with Outback because of their impeccable products but I sure hope I can remedy this and hopefully not experience this problem again.

Is this a large-scaled problem and has any recall been announced?

Has anyone changed one of these "programming button-boards" out themselves?

I haven't had mine fixed yet. No option was mentioned to me other than sending it in and spending $163. I had been thinking of getting another Outback controller and inverter when I expand my system, but I am reconsidering giving them any more of my money, if this is an indication of their quality and service.

Jim, I called their tech support line and spoke with George @ 360-6184363.

I need mine fixed yesterday!...After speaking with George he put my replacement part in the mail today. I'd like to get some responses (I started a seperate thead) in regards to how easy it is to replace it. I am fairly handy (ex mechanic) so I do not think it's rocket science. Then again, ya just never know.

Have not installed it Rog .... my other FM 80 takes over the lead for final charge , so not in a rush to install the new Pad for the old MX 60 ....

I do not think that you overcharge your battery while the key buttons are not working , cause the "brain" needs no buttons

Anyway hope you are fine

Best regards

The problem is the tiny conductive dots on the back side of the rubber pushbuttons become non conductive.
Looks like many other users are having problems with this.

I have my Flexmax 80 on the bench with a power supply powering it.
It's not fun to remove the circuit board clips that hold it in but I used a small screwdriver to snap them off.

I can touch the circuitboard traces and every menu will work.
I cleaned the pads but it didn't work.

I wrote support and lets see what happens.

i wish Outback had the support team that had before they were sold.
I was the first to demo the first inverter they made back in 2000 at a solar show in Flagstaff.
Had a scope hooked up to show the clean sinewave.
