My RE system: MX60 X PV MPPT Charge Controller
VFX 3524 inverter
Mate - original oval
Trace Engineering DC Disconnect/Overcurrent Module
Solar Panels: 10 - 180 watt; 2 - 250 watt
Batteries: 12 - 2 v

Replace the MX60 with the newer FM80, or use it in addition to the MX60?

Depends on whether there's too much panel power for a single charge controller. If so then use both. If not, go with the FM80 and keep the MX60 as backup.

To answer this with any confidence, as Raysun asked, we really need to know the Ah capacity of your battery bank?
An idea of how much power you use in a 24 hour period would also help?
