NEW VFXR3048E trouble communicating from MATE1

Post by ELECMAN » Sun Jun 14, 2020 10:41 pm

I supplied a new inverter to a customer who had a 24v inverter (outback) they have swapped it out for the new, but it doesn't seem to be able to talk to the new VFXR. inverter Relay is always on and generator input setting unchangeable. This is all on an outback pre-wired panel.

My first thought was perhaps the firmware needed updating for the MATE1, but I see they don't provide updates for that model, is the MATE1 even compatible?

I'm going to say no, the original Mate is not likely to be compatible.

The documents reference the Mate3 only. The FXR series have several operating modes related to grid connectivity that require the Mate3.

From the Operator manual:
 MATE3 must have firmware revision 003.007.xxx or higher.

Most likely the Mate3s (current model) will be what's available to manage the VFXR inverter.

This from the compliance section of the E series installation guide:

 Compliance with the requirement of IEC 62109-2 for remote fault indication is achieved with installation of
the MATE3 or AXS Port in the system.
 Compliance with the requirement of IEC 62109-2 for identification of firmware version is achieved with
installation of the MATE3 or AXS Port in the system.
