Try a different CAT5 cable. Also make sure the Hub port where the Mate connects is clean. If your still having problems try plugging the Mate directly into the Inverter or directly into one of the charge controllers. You could also try just one device (inverter, charge controller etc) in the Hub at a time with the Mate also connected.

Just to be certain, your Mate must be plugged into the first port of the Outback Hub. When you do this, it should cycle and find all other devices connect to the Outback Hub.
In my case, after my mate 3 is plugged into the very first port, my radian inverter is plugged into port 1, Flexmax charge controllers into ports 2,3,4 and my Flexnet into port 5.

I am also having a problem with the MATE communication.
I have a VFXR3024E (no hub) directly connected, have checked and changed cable.
MATE doesn't even show search result. Just returns to main screen without assigning a port.

I've just been through this too.
Make sure you set up date & time & it'll work OK.
Wrong date & time & nothing shows up.

VFXR and FXR inverter series are not supported by MATE or MATE2, unfortunately. You have to use MATE3 or MATE3s for those kind of inverters.
