No network connection after OPTICS installed.

Postby RJRsolar on Sun Feb 12, 2017 7:05 pm

This afternoon I installed the the MATE3 firmware Revision 003.015.003 (OPTICS RE), beta. The previous firmware was the latest, non-OPTICS, version.
Earlier in the day, prior to the OPTICS update, I had no problem logging on to the system, using our local network.

The MATE3 is plugged directly into the network switch. (I removed the HUB several days ago, after it failed. I am awaiting a replacement.) This morning, prior to the update, minus the HUB, I could log on OK.

After the upgrade the connection keeps timing out. I have a camera plugged into the same switch and it continues to work OK. The problem, seems to be the firmware upgrade.

I checked the network information on the MATE and it is correct ... same information as before: no change.

Any ideas?

Hi,

I would suggest to update the firmware again but this time before you do, clear the internal data logs.
Here is a step by step video tutorial: https://youtu.be/MNZcksbeEyI
After you've done the update, go through these tips: https://youtu.be/Rrkmz6F6JDM

Jorge:

Thanks for your help, but still no network connection.

I have reloaded the firmware twice, carefully following the instructions on both of the video links you provided. Here is what I am seeing:

1) In the MATE, checking Firmware versions:
MATE 3: 003.015.003
ETHERNET: 002.019.000 (The video indicates both versions should be the same.)

2) On the OPTICS page, it only shows "ENABLED." There are no network or MAC addresses showing. The PORT button has no effect. (Only a beep, when pushed.)

It almost seems like the firmware is wrong. Could that be?

Best Regards, Roger

Hi Roger,

The fact that the Ethernet and MATE3 firmware don't match up is the problem so unless they are the same it won't connect.
I would recommend updating the firmware a couple more times but if it doesn't update. Contact our support line for the next step.

Thanks,
Jorge

Are there any "gotchas" on the update that may be preventing the Ethernet firmware from updating?

I notice that when updating, I do see the Ethernet Processor updating notice.

The only "non-standard" thing I can think of is there is no HUB. The MATE is connected directly to the Radian and Network. I am using Midnite Charge controllers, so they do not connect to the HUB, anyway. Also the FNDC is not connected, but I don't see that as a problem, either. (I will have a new HUB in a few days. Just waiting for shipping.

The one thing you want to make sure when updating the firmware is to have the Ethernet cable disconnected and clearing the internal data logs. You can also check behind the MATE3. The Ethernet status green light should be blinking and a solid yellow.
