Is mjames@outback.com a real persons email address? What about jwebber@outback.com ?
Do these people work somewhere else now?

Thanks mjames for responding to my posting as a PM. Yes we do have OB staff reading these forums!
and although the posting process is still somewhat hinky, I can report a 90% reduction in frustration. Thanks!

It only takes an average of 6 log-in attempts to make a posting...
I just have to make sure I copy my text of each posting so that I don't "lose" it when the system makes me log in again
Sigh

Hi Lance,

I was just scanning through some of the old posts. Has this been solved for you? When I use the link, it goes, correctly, to here: http://outbackpower.com/outback-support ... ort-center

As soon as we spot it (I get e-mails for all new traffic), we remove it and delete the user.

A few months back we rolled back user-by-user moderation during registration as it was particularly time intensive. We may need to reconsider...

I think you posted the question into a wrong thread, there's 'Website & Forum' thread.

I'd say this is a pretty fair place to post something like that. From the sound of it, it qualifies as "forum strangeness".

Do you have any additional information besides "can't post"? An error message? A button missing? Some other third thing?

Re: Post any forum strangeness here, My Login

Post by JRHill » Mon Mar 09, 2020 11:38 am

As of the last week or so if I click on an email of activity for a thread I go to the login page and after imputing credentials, I go to the Board Index, not the link to the thread I clicked on. In other words, I am logged out pretty quickly after closing a session tab. I used to stay logged in continuously unless I purposely logged out or cleared the caches. Clicking on the email link took me right to it and I was still logged in to the forum. No big deal but I'm wondering if anyone else has seen this or if Chrome or something else has changed on my end. Needless to say, these days, when there is a change in behavior "a guy" just has to wonder....

Best,
Jim

I use Chrome too, and I've never been able to stay logged in for more than an hour or so.

Attachment file names appeared in the body of my post today, first time that's happened in my experience.viewtopic.php?f=47&t=14975&p=71334#p71334
Also, the attachments are bunched together instead of appearing in the text where I try to insert them. What's up?

When you attached them, did you ask for them to be placed inline (like the one above and below)?

Thought I did - looking at the text of my post viewtopic.php?f=47&t=14975&p=71334#p71334, you can see where they should've been from where the file names are located.

I have no clue whether this is relevant: I usually put my attachment "inlines" on a separate text line in the post window.

I usually just put my cursor where I want the attachment to go, then click "attach inline". That's what I did this time, too. :-k

I've not been able to attach a photo for a llooong time. Something changed cause once in the past I could. But I haven't devoted brain cells to the issue because I fear there aren't enough working anymore and I don't need more evidence. Frankly I can't relate to anything you two are talking about. The only option I have is Insert Image and Insert URL. I have no problem if I post a local picture elsewhere.

@Jim: You don't see an Options/Attachments area at the bottom of the "Post a Reply" window?
Inline2.jpg
There was a problem a long time back where all photo uploads were failing, but I fixed that about three years back. I've seen a lot of people uploading photos since.

If you have a camera with very high resolution, try scaling the resolution back - we do have a size limit on uploads, so 10MB pictures will be problematic.

Here's a recent thread with photos: http://www.outbackpower.com/forum/viewt ... =1&t=14943
