I'm logging into the secure site, but when I post anything (e.g. reply to a post) the Submit process switches me to the unsecure site and logs me out, so I am browsing as a guest.

The unsecured site will not accept my login credentials.

Yep -- same behavior, hitting Submit bounces me into the unsecured page...this is from Safari.

Now this is normal, which makes it strange...

I was writing the reply above, but @provo posted ahead of me. The forum popped up the dialog about the intervening post and suggested review. I posted anyway, and the sysyem DID NOT kick me out to the unsecured site.

Did it leave me alone because I was being a smart-ass, or is there another reason?

Yea, this is getting to be a PITA. Guess I’m bouncing between the two as well as sometimes it logs in sometimes not.
Even more annoying is I have to log in every time I leave and come back. This happened a while back as I recall and it got fixed.
I got 3 emails fe forum activity. Click on one, have to log in, click next, relog in, click next and log in again and I never closed any of the previous. PITA

Maybe it's time a few accepted the company for what it is.
Reading the forum sure gives an in-site into some problems and lack of concern or inability re a fix.
Shortly I'll be updating my complete setup & some of this has sure made my mind up which way to jump.
OK, some of the short comings are more to do with not living in USA but if sold here, service & help should also be here.
I'm sure most have you are surprised by the problems being posted and the lack of company employee responses?
I guess I'm being unfair as the forum is more customer helping customer with only minimal input by company reps.
I feel for the company reps that do post as even they must be getting frustrated.... (especially David!)

It's no secret small companies get acquired by large companies, and the company culture changes, frequently not for the better.

The customer touch points are an obvious place for these changes to be exposed. I don’t fault the Outback folks for the issues with the user forum, because I doubt they have much, if any, control over it.

I initially selected Outback gear because of their legacy of supporting the DIY community with gear far superior to the Chi-comm alternatives. I still feel that way, and am about to over double my investment in solar infrastructure and capability, and am choosing more of the same. (Well, the lithium batteries will be new, and non-Outback.)

I looked over the whole gamut of equipment before deciding to re-invest in OB, and saw some newer designs and some innovation, to, perhaps, better accomodate new lithium battery tech, but I saw nothing that offered enough in the way of features or track record of reliability to make me bet on another vendor. There's little to get excited about with what's essentially 20 year-old tech, but the last thing i want from my power system is excitement. 😏

Well, OpticsRE is a freebie for now. Granted it took a long time to get some Mate3 reboot/connections resolved but overall I count my blessings for a really well performing system.

Many sites including forums allow one to stay logged in for a selectable time, even continuously if desired. I can only guess that is not an option for the back end of this forum now changed. Now on this forum one can barely compose a message before being logged out and losing the composition.

When creating a message I know to copy the text before submitting the message. But it seems the more time/thought that went into the message the greater likelihood it will be lost it you forget to copy it before submitting.

[BTW, we have visitors right now. Conversations, coffee, chores, etc. I will save this before submitting]

I submitted. Yup, the above was gone. Why does this have to happen?

I'm unclear on why this would happen - and... it has never happened to me. But... I had a look 'round the back of the shop and came across a setting which might affect this. "Unfortunately", it's already correctly set, in my estimation:

There's also this:

That would be a two hour time limit to post the form. Do you take more than two hours?

I'll have to test that, it seemed like a shorter timeout.

But then, my grasp on the space-time continuum has always been tenuous at best.

David on a couple of forums I look after the 'lost post' only happens if someone else posts to that topic whilst a post is being composed.
Usually instead of posting the post it actually says it is in 'Preview' mode so then needs to again be posted.
If anyone noticed immediately they have lost a post, they can hit the back button to retrieve the post & then post it again.
I think the people who write the forum software consider you may wish to change your post seeing as how someone else has already replied in that thread. It does get annoying!
Yep. Just happened to me because Raysun posted as I was composing!

Yes, I've seen that (more than once). After losing a few thousand words I did train myself to be aware of that condition.
