1.5.0 firmware release date?

Post by msmiley » Thu Jun 04, 2020 6:07 pm

Just hooked up 3x Simplify 3.8 batteries and getting ready to commission them.

I downloaded Simpliphi's app note and noticed that they make reference to SkyBox firmware 1.5.0 as the best choice to maintain warranty.

My SkyBox is running 1.4.15 and doesn't seem to find anything newer, has it been released?

I've seen the other messages in this forum advising using CONFIGURATION1 on 1.4.15, but before I go down that route, I was wondering if the 1.5.0 release is imminent.

Thanks,
Mike

I don't know when Skybox will get the next FW update but comments in this thread http://outbackpower.com/forum/viewtopic ... 369#p71369 from Mark Walters may help in the interim...

Where are the Skybox firmware archives? They are conspicuously absent from the download page.

Looks like there’s an update available to version 1.5.8 on the firmware page released on 8/5. My Skybox still have not downloaded it yet. Anyone successfully applied this update?

I haven't seen anything about 1.5.0.
My Skybox says it checked yesterday and I have 1.4.15
I refreshed it and it doesn't say there is a newer one as of today.

If you're looking at this page
20200810_190803.jpg
from the Skybox product firmware page, I don't think that 1.5.8 version is actually released - it might just be random numbers to illustrate how Skybox presents its current fw version.

PS have to note that screenshot is the largest I could post. The new attachment size limit is really crimping my style.

I just had Skybox do a firmware update check and it's saying 1.4.15, which is what my system is running right now: https://drive.google.com/file/d/10T8AiQ ... p=drivesdk

Mine says the same thing. I looked on the website and there is a page that is mostly blank about firmware but it shows an example of the firmware update screen

at the bottom it says Release date 05 August 2020
Here is the link.

We are having rolling blackouts in California so maybe we are getting rolling firmware updates. LOL

I am not on that release yet. Several months ago I had a problem with TOU scheduling because you have to use the screen on the unit. The one on the web version is in Universal Time which is -7 hours for me. I am using Self Consumption now, but ocassionally I may want to switch back to TOU so I will keep and eye out when I get that release,

Did you look at the next screen (the one below the status)? You would have to manually apply the new firmware after downloading.

I did use the screen to painfully enter the schedule. I did the same for firmware 1.4.15. It would not work. I don't know what's going on, such a simple thing.
Where can I find the web version? Perhaps I can give it a try. I can't find it in OpticsRE.

There it was, right under my nose all the time. That won't be the first time I have been fooled by myself. I think I will wait for the Release Notes and for some kinks to be worked out. Unless it offers something I need, I can wait.

The web version is the IP address of your Skybox on your router follow by :3000 (colon 3000)
You may get a request for password which is skybox. You can't type in the characters on your keyboard, you have to use your mouse to click on the keyboard on the screen.
The IP address on my router changed from time to time so I gave the Skybox a permanent one by disabling DCHP and using a fixed IP address. Now I can bookmark it and view my Skybox from my couch instead of standing in front of the Skybox in the garage. It also works on my Android phone,

That screenshot I posted showing fw v1.4.15 is from the web version. I haven't checked fw at the Skybox itself, but it wouldn't surprise me if it gave me a different indication than the web interface did - there are some things that aren't so straightforward to do at the web interface. Like Ampster said, "Several months ago I had a problem with TOU scheduling because you have to use the screen on the unit."

They are both the same. To see If an update has been posted you have to use the down scroll arrow, as @Etn06448 suggested. to see the second screen that shows the update has been downloaded, From their you can choose to update or roll back.

Are you trying from the Skybox local interface/screen? Because that's the only way I could get mine to work, the web interface did not give me an update button to press.

What do you mean by "not working out"? Details?
