Network Hardware failed to initialize

Installing a Skybox in the Bahamas, so internet is sketchy. Have the skybox connected to simpliphi batteries, but have not connected the solar yet. Battery voltage is 50.1. I went through the setup the first time through and it went fine, but had a Rapid Shutdown error. I tried to change the setting, since I do not have a rapid shutdown device. I then power cycled the inverter, now it just says network hardware failed to initialize rebooting, then reboots and does it again. I am going to call after Christmas, but hoping someone has an idea to try. Thanks!

I can't speak to your network problem but as far as the rapid shutdown error, do you have a jumper installed across the terminals (in the compartment above the BOS) where a rapid shutdown device would normally be connected to? I had that mistake when I commissioned my Skybox... See the red markings in this screenshot:

As noted in my earlier post, do you have the jumper installed inside your BOS? Not having it would cause you to get the RSD error.

Thanks for your response Mike. I've got a FireRaptor RSD installed, but tried jumping out the terminals anyway. Same issue - when I power up the SkyBox (either with battery power or grid power), the screen powers up, then displays "Network Hardware Failed to Initialize. Rebooting..." three times, then indicates "Contact Support". What's going on?

The unit's firmware needs to be updated. I went through this as well. Apparently, some units have a glitch. The way I understand it, when the quickstart writes settings to the unit, it has a glitch that turns off the network hardware. The only way to fix it is to have Outback reload the software (sd card or possibly remotely).

Hi Greg - Sorry to say, no idea what's wrong. My network setup worked fine from the start.

I have a different tech support issue with Outback right now and the response has been fantastic, so contacting Tech Support sounds like a good idea, and I'm sure they can help you out.

I am also getting this 'Network hardware failed to initialize. Please contact support.' error. I've been trying to get a hold of support for over two weeks, but they seem to be understaffed. Does anyone who has already solved this problem have a copy of the up-to-date firmware? The Skybox is conspicuously absent from the firmware download page.

The Skybox is now running! After calling Outback technical support, they sent me a an express envelope via USPS. Through no fault of theirs, it took more than 2 weeks to ultimately travel only 60km (37mi) from Bellingham, WA to Vancouver, BC, Canada through San Francisco. If we weren't dealing with COVID, it would have been 100 times faster for me to just drive across the border and get it in person. :???:

The envelope contains a How-To Note for "Skybox Procedure 2E: Resetting the Network" with a microSD card taped to the paper. The directions are straight-forward and easy to follow. The SD card has a bootable 16MB FAT16 partition and a 471MB EXT4 partition with a *nix-style filesystem on it. It would be difficult to setup properly, so I can see why they are not able to email the fix out.
