Remote access

Post by mikejrod » Tue Mar 21, 2017 5:56 am

Does anyone share remote access through OpticsRe with a second party? Currently, the folks who installed my system are the only ones who can remotely control settings via OpticsRE. I would like to be able to change things remotely, but my installer has stated that this may be difficult to do.

The OpticsRE system owner has full access to the account and can read/write all supported status/configuration options. That owner can also invite others to have access - either read only or also read/write.

"I would like to be able to change things remotely, but my installer has stated that this may be difficult to do."

Adding you (back) to your (own) account isn't difficult. If your installer has set himself up as the system owner, he would need to change your access from monitoring only to full control. You should be able to use the "Settings" cog in the upper-right of the OpticsRE screen and then "Site" or "Profile" to determine who has what kind of access rights. Once you have full control, it would be "easy" to change anything.

Now... knowing what to change and how it affects things... that might be the difficult part your installer is referring to (...?).

Hope that helps.

My installer also set himself up as owner and I only have Monitoring Only access.
following your instructions I found the Mac Address but get this error:

MAC address "<snip>" is already registered, please try again or contact customer support.

thanks, Peter
PS: I sent the MAC address privately if needed... did not seem that I should post it here

You don't need to reregister your device. You need to have your access level increased from "Monitoring Only" to "Full Control" if you wish to make changes to your site remotely. You will need to contact David or Miguel who can bump your access up.

I have tried but I am unable to contact David at this time.
Miguel is unknown to me. I thought he was a Outback engineer/agent that was enlisted by David to help setup the system.
I am the true owner of the system and all hardware...

I guess I will do a Google search for Miguel, I was unsuccessful in the past.

Why not simply return your Mate3s for warranty replacement? The new unit's MAC address could be registered as a new site. You'd lose history, but it's the going-forward that's important.

That, or maybe the same thing could be done via database operation. OBDBA you listening? ;)

@mexsudo: I dug under the covers, Miguel Alquicira is indeed with Alpha. I'll reach out to him to confirm the situation and then reach out by PM.

Hi Peter,

I reached out to Miguel and he has made you a profile administrator. He could, since he was one as well. You can also now decide whether David should remain a profile administrator and set that appropriately.

Hope that helps.
