Force Float in Optics?

Post by provo » Sat Dec 21, 2019 12:07 pm

I use the FM80 "force float" function fairly often, either to terminate an absorb early when the sun is going away, or to get out of absorb when it starts up and isn't needed because the batteries are already in float.

I can't find force float anywhere in Optics. Does anyone know if it's there somewhere? Does anyone like force float besides me?

It never occurred to me that such a function existed. ;)

Well it's pretty deeply buried in the bowels of the FM "Misc" menu ...... That's probably why it didn't make it into Optics -- nobody knows, and those who know, don't know why

You are correct it is not present in OPTICS, as the legacy gateway devices do not have a Sunspec register to support this function.

Ah, well -- thanks for responding.....when I want to force float, I'll just walk down to the basement and do it from the FM80.
