Can not get OpticsRE to work.

Postby foo on Thu May 18, 2017 9:23 am

As far as I understand it, OpticsRE is inside of the Mate3. And that as long as you have an updated firmware installed in your Mate3, OpticsRE is available.
My Mate3 originally came with FW 003.015.000 of which I have updated it to FW Version 003.015.001 because I couldn't get OpticsRE to operate as in the manual and video instructions.
Even with the new FW, I still can't get the screen to display via the port button which should then show the MAC address of the Mate3 so that I can register it on the OpticsRE website.
On the versions screen is a view I haven't seen in any posts or videos or guides.
It reads Ethernet version along with the Mate3 version and the Inverter Version. Anyone seen this before(image attached)? What should it read?

In order for me to get this online for OpticsRE I have to know the MAC ID. Instructions say that I should be able to simply hit the Port button when on the main screen. Once the port button is hit, there should be a screen with the ethernet address showing plus a mac address at the very bottom.
Pressing the port button while on the main screen doesn't do anything. So without the MAC ID I can't get past the first page of setting up the profile on the website.

Anyone else encounter this or can provide a solution?

Thanks in advance.

That's kind of correct. OpticsRE is a cloud-based application, i.e., not "inside" the Mate3. Mate3 firmware version 3.0 or higher is required to talk to OpticsRE.

Looking at your firmware version image, I feel that the problem is that the Ethernet processor is not properly updated to the same version as the main processor. Those two revision numbers should match. Could you try once again to "update" to that version.

I did try it a second time after reading some posts about success after a second attempt.
I did not try something that I also read; which was to let the Mate3 sit unpowered for 15 minutes.
I will try to follow that with the next update attempt.

Is it possible to reinstall an older version of the firmware? Wattplott seems to think the previous version is the most stable.

I would like to try reverting to that previous version if this 3rd attempt at an update doesn't make a difference. But I need to know if reverting to previous FW versions is OK.

Also ensure your ethernet cable is not plugged in when updating.
Apparently you can reinstall a previous version, I have not done this myself.
And there is a new version due very shortly, according to a post by David recently.

I tried to reupdate the FW again with V 003_015_001. This time letting the Mate3 sit unpowered for 15 minutes before the attempt.

Still no response to the Port button from the main screen.

I then saw that the Mate3 has a new FW release.
I tried FW V 003_015_005 with the same results. No response to the Port button and I can't find a MAC ID.

Anyone got any more suggestions?

I did another couple of attempts just to be sure I wasn't using the wrong cable when connecting directly to the Mate3 via a PC.
Connected to a generic network hub I still had no luck getting to the Mate3's IP that I assigned to it.
I followed the directions in the manual and added a couple different techniques to no avail.

But what I did notice was something peculiar. I watched the network indicators on the back of the Mate3 and I also watched the network indicator for the port that the Mate3 was connected to on the network hub.
What I noticed is that the Yellow light on the Mate3 and the port light on the network hub lit up, but only for about 5 seconds and then they would both stop lighting up for about another 5 seconds. On the network hub I can actually see the green LED flicker quickly a few times before the light goes out. I thought at first communication began but then realized it's more like a loss of connection.
The yellow light for the lan indicator is the only one that comes on in the Mate3, the green communication light on the LAN indicator of the Mate3 never lights up.

All the while, following directions to see the MAC address to no avail. The PORT button does not respond when pressed while at the Main Screen.

I'm beginning to believe I have a defective unit.
