Generator for FP1-2

Postby belizeit on Thu Nov 08, 2012 10:44 am

The Flex Power One calls for a 2 wire start generator for an off grid system, yet I can't find it anywhere besides the expensive eco-gen. Does anyone know of a generator that will work with the FP1-2 in the 5to 8KW?
I'd appreciate all the help

Hi Belizeit,
Good question. I remember seeing a thread, on this forum perhaps, regarding generators that would work in an autostart mode with Outback products.

I already have a Yamaha generator which I believe will conveniently work as an autostart gen with the Flexpower unit. But I am not 100% sure. It is a battery start, auto choke model (the largest one they make, 6kw I believe). I am awaiting my FP1 to arrive this December, so I can't tell you right now if the Yamaha works.
Keep on searching, but this was the best model I could find.
Cheers,

This link to an outback brochure on generator autostart may be helpful in your generator search; it cleared 1 or 2 things up for me.

By the way, it may be my computer, but many of the outback .pdf's seem to freeze my internet explorer (keep that in mind if you have also experienced this).

Aloha, My go around was to buy an Atkinson G.S.C.M. - mini (generator start control module) a 2 to 3 wire configuration, so you could use Honda 5 K 3 wire start gen or some of the home depot brands 8 K gens. David
