irregular generator charging

Hi folks,
My 1kWp is managed by FP1-34 (charge controler, inverter charger, battery monitor, hub and Mate3)
When loading with a generator (SDMO Inverter 3000) that generator and the general load voltage go up and down every 10s. or so, voltage between 180 and 230 by 1s. steps.

That is not accepted by opther machines fed by the inverter.

Any idea?
Thanks
Lionel

When the voltage swings do you notice the FP1 disconnecting from the generator? You would see the AC IN light go away and the Inverter light turn on.

What is your AC input amps setting on the inverter?

What are the charging amps?

Is this new behavior or has this always happened when the generator runs?

Have you tried running a different load on the generator separate from the FP1?

If you turn off the AC output loads does the problem still happen?

What happens when you turn off the charger on the inverter?

Make sure to check all wires and breakers for loose connections. A loose neutral wire or multiple neutral to ground bonds can cause this behavior.

When was the last generator maintenance?

Thanks,

-Kurt

Hi Lundquist,
I finally found the answer by thorough testing (lucky I am retired!):
Though my gen is supposed to give 3kW practically it is only 1kW
All is OK with a maximum input amperage of 4 AAC which is enough to put up my bats at a correct level!
The lesson is that I should never again opt for minimum power levels for gens or inverters!
Thanks for your help
Lionel

I'm glad you found the problem. Generators are often sold at the maximum surge power rating so it is deceptive if you try to run a constant load.
