how much down time do you expect

Postby surfah on Wed Aug 08, 2018 12:03 pm

Hi, Just wondering how the off grid folks handle down time for repair? My reseller does not return calls or voice messages for parts they need to look up. [-X I went beyond my local reseller and they say 2 weeks to get parts from Outback that's not in stock. The off grid folks run gens for weeks on down time? I'm thinking if I should reinstate the system when I get the part I ordered or try selling the whole system.

What is the damage I am curious what happened from a fellow radian consumer I want to know what failed. I think you need to talk to a different reseller as I have ran into idiots before who got the money and would not be interested in helping before. Usually outback is very good with support so I am surprised to hear that this is taking so long.

Extended downtime was unacceptable to me, so I purchased a 4048 as a spare parts unit.
So far 6 yrs, never needed anything from it.

Totally off grid, and only needed about 6kw production, so opted to not install the dual radian configuration because it would just draw power being turned on.
(I also have a spare well pump, door locks, and "crap out the wazoo", and a dedicated electronics lab room to meet custom needs since everything uses intense automation control.)
But if you "live" off grid and remote, fill a shed with spare parts -properly stored of course...
