OutBack Radian 8048 Stacking Limits

Postby The MechE on Tue Sep 12, 2017 5:41 am

Hi,

I was looking at the spec sheet for the Radian 8048 and noticed the spec sheets mention the GS8048 inverter can be stacked with up to 10 units.

Are there limitations for how the inverters are stacked and what mode they are on? For example, could I stack 10 GS8048 inverters in parallel while using the grid-interactive mode (sell back unneeded power to the grid)?

Hi,

Correct, you may stack up to 10 Inverters only in parallel in a Grid-Tie configuration. The limitation comes from the HUB (Communications manager) that only allows up to 10 devices per system.

Thank you for the information!

Just to make sure we are on the same page, I would be able to stack the 10 inverters in the grid-interactive mode instead of just grid-tied correct?

What I mean is that when the 10 Radian GS8048 inverters are used with FlexMAX series MPPT CC's, they would still charge the batteries in the battery bank, power my electrical loads, and sell any excess to the grid (batteries full and cannot receive any more charge), correct?

Correct. The Grid-tie input mode available in the Radian GS8048 and GS8048A is a grid-interactive functionality. This will work for up to 10 Inverters in parallel.
You may also have an additional MATE3 + HUB to monitor and control FM80 charge controllers. Here is a quick video explaining having multiple MATE3's: https://youtu.be/Kuu4weoliSk
