Mate3 lockup

Postby chrisallo on Mon Oct 02, 2017 5:45 pm

My Mate3 has been working fine for over 2 years.

Just recently I started having this issue:

Mate 3 looks fine but when I select any individual item like the Charge controller and then select "graph" the graph screen comes up but is empty and it locks up. the only way to get out of the lockup is to remove the RJ connector and plug it back in causing a reboot.

When I try the same thing after a reboot it locks up again. This happens on a number of the secondary screens.

What changed?

No software updates were done. Actually nothing has been done for months and it was working fine.

Help?

Try clearing the Internal Data Log. Press Lock > 141 Password > Settings > System > Clear Internal Data Log.

ok i can try to clear the log but then all my historical data is lost.

Does your log not wrap and when it gets full just gets stuck?

I had the exact same problem just this week after a couple years of operation - everything worked fine, but trying to get a graph of anything resulted in the MATE3 locking up completely.

Clearing the internal data log as mentioned fixed the problem at the cost of the historical data.

I could go on here a bit about basic memory management and failing gracefully, but at least it is back to life.

So i deleted the logs as instructed and then the system went into a continual reboot state.
Called Outback and they said there is a problem that occurs sometimes with these systems.
Currently I am without a Mate until I get a new version Mate 3S that supposedly has different hardware to fix this problem.

Be careful deleting the logs. When I deleted the logs the system would lock up. had to reboot each time I tried to delete the 3 different logs.

Good Luck

latest update....

Outback shipped out a new Mate 3S. plugged it in and everything is working great now.

Want to thank Sandra for her quick turn around at getting a new unit out to me so quickly.
