Changing router to Netgear Orbi

Post by Gwdarling » Sun Dec 29, 2019 9:21 am

Hi our Mate 3 is connected to our old Netgear router with an Ethernet cable. It is time to replace the router and I was considering switching to a mesh router to solve problems with WiFi dead spots (we have a log home and it’s tough to get signal in places). But I am concerned about losing the Optics RE connection to the Mate3. I can’t really remember how I got the connection set up originally but do have the MAC address and IP address written down. Any words of wisdom would be appreciated.

Hi there, if the MATE3 is set to use DHCP (default), then it should reconnect to OPTICS automatically as soon as it has internet connection. Best to keep the MATE3 wired directly to the primary new router for the fastest connection, too.
