MATE 3S - conectivity

Postby chinezbrun on Wed Apr 10, 2019 12:09 pm

Hi,

I'm interesting to know if MATE 3S has any possibility to send serial data and has backward compatibility
with MATE 3 for data stream, HTTP GET requests...
ex: respond in the same way for http://192.168.0.150/Dev_status.cgi?&Port=0

There is somewhere a document that are comparing MATE3 with MATE 3S, side by side at this level?

The screen shot shows the connection options. It's my understanding the USB card option used in the MATE3 is not compatible with the MATE3S

this is also my understanding but i'm afraid to acknowledge this.
I'll upgrade my MATE3 and the serial port was so useful.

If you are trying to tap the MATE data stream, perhaps the TCP server protocol might work.

The USB card is obsolete and does not work with the Mate3s. Modbus/Sunspec is the way to go for the Mate3s.

thanks.
I hope that Data Stream over TCP is still active. I do not want to overload the MODBUS communication with monitoring data requests.
MODBUS is used by OpticsRE and if another request are coming from local monitoring software (i.e WattPlot ) i have doubts that both of them will work properly.

Hi,

There is any advantage of MATE3s versus MATE3 - based on specs i did not noticed any.
Can i found in documentation a comparison?

Regards,
Dan

Hi Dan,

I don't have specifics on the hardware but I know the Mate3 is discontinued. The Mate3s is the way to go for up to date firmware and for any grid-tied system that needs to meet UL1742_SA requirements. If you already have a Mate3 and are happy with how the system works I wouldn't bother getting the Mate3s.

The CGI script still works with the Mate3s and so does the built-in web server.
