MATE3S worst product outback has

Post by jeffminsc » Sat Oct 10, 2020 9:48 pm

Let me start by saying I have 4 flexmax 80's a radian 8048 and a flexnetdc. I am a outback fan, I just love there equipment. I have had to replace the mate 3 times! at $400+ each that adds up quick. I have had 1 fail completely, and 2 that would not connect to Optics. MY guess is that there is a problem with the Ethernet board but this is not my area of great knowledge. So I just want to ask that outback get the mate up to the same standards of all your other equipment. As a side note, I called tech support 3 times and no one ever got back to me. This is strange it is the first time I have ever had any issue with the support. I hope that this will not be the new norm for the company.

That's certainly unusual. The Mate has a 90 day full replacement, 5 year repair/replace warranty.

Fyi, I bought my first Mate3 in July, 2016. It failed in June, 2019, and Outback replaced it under warranty (for free) with a Mate3s. Are you filing warranty claims or opening up tech support tickets? I can't believe you had to buy 3 of these when the warranty should've given you new ones free of charge...

My Mate 3 and 3S have been installed since April 2016 and no failures so far. is it possible you are not using Outback supplied ethernet cables to power the Mate or there is some issue on the cabling between the ethernet output of the Mate and your gateway? In my case, my Mate is connected to a high quality switch and the switch output goes to another switch and then finally into the gateway. No problems and no dropped connections.

I just wanted to let everyone know Jesse from outback support reached out to me. He is a great guy answered all my questions and took care of getting a replacement Mate3S on the way. Thanks Outback for standing behind your product.
