PS2 & 4 DC breaker KO's

Post by txsolarguy » Mon Sep 26, 2005 6:30 pm

Is it possible to modify the PS2 DC with multiple DIN rail lo voltage breakers or hi voltage fused discos?

txsolarguy,

It depends on what you mean by possible.
It would definitely take some metal fab to pull off. Another option might be a separate enclosure like the PSPV

Scott, I know a dedicated combiner would do the trick but for a small system, say 4 inputs, a combiner sized for up to 12 inputs is overkill cubic-inch wise.
I am looking at the SMA combination DC disconnect and PV array combiner and wondering why it cannot be done with any disconnect, such as the PS2DC. There is no metal seperator in that unit and the main difference is that the PS2DC has a 175 or 250A DC rated breaker and the SMA disconnect has a DC 40 A maximum manual disconnect.
I'm just always looking for an easier way to do things and installing DIN rail components is pretty straightforward, something that many skilled installers can figure out.
