What happened to the BigBus? How to buss 4 x 175amp DC?

What happened to the Big Bus? Why is it discontinued?

I can see in the new flexware 1000 that there is a row of breakers that can handle 4 x 175amp breakers for lets say 4 x VFX3648 inverters.

But now that I can't find the outback bigbuss buss bar that used to handle the battery connection to a row of four of these huge breakers. Outback still makes a bar that can do two of the breakers at a time but not four. Im confused. :-s

(sound of tumble weeds blowing across the PSDC subforum)....

Wwwwwooooshhhh tumble tumble......

Im gonna assume that there is no damn good reason for getting rid of the bigbus. Gonna have to get a big thick plate of copper and drill it myself!

The Big buss went away because we found something better...

If you look in the manual of the BBus and Sbus there is wiring diagram.

It's also not diagrammed but you can use a third bus and combine all four breakers up together. But its best to put two breakers on the top and two breakers on the bottom of the Flex 1000. This way all cable are all the same length rather then the top inverter being 16 inch cables and the bottom inverter needing 45 inch cables.

I finally got around to buying and installing a couple VFX3648. Here is what I did to get over the fact that the old BigBuss is no longer made. I did see an old stock BigBuss for sale but it was like 80$.

Since I plan on having 3-4 VFX3648 in the final configuration and since I have the old PSDC (4 stack DC panel) that has the 4 large 175Amp breakers in line I went to onlinemetals.com and bought a 1/4 thick solid copper bar about 6" long and 4" wide. Then I very carefully measured and drilled the holes for the 4 breakers and a couple holes for wiring this positive buss bar to the PSDC and battery connections. Its not tinned copper but what the heck...

Currently using only one 4/0 positive cable (Cobra wire UL list X-flex 105C rated 4/0) that goes to a blue sea 800amp dual bank battery switch and 400amp T-block fuse. Im hoping thats fine for a quad 3648. The distance from the bussbar to + terminals on the bats is less than 5 feet.

I also bought the new FW-BigBuss ... but I used that to wire 3 500Amp shunts on the negative buss.
