Charge paramters for Hawker FLA Batteries

Postby cgerke on Thu Mar 14, 2019 6:13 am

I am helping a friend setup a Radian system with FM80s CC, FNDC, Mate3s. He has Hawker FLA 2 Volt Batteries that are about 3 years old. I can not find what I consider reliable charging info. Currently, I have the CC set as follows: Absorb - 59V, 3 hours ; Float - 53.8, Eq. - 61 volts, 2 hours. The 8048 inverter is set slightly lower in volts. Any comments or guidance is appreciated.

Does the battery have a label that shows the model number? Sometimes the label has charging info but typically it is in volts per cell (Vpc) and it isn't always geared around a cycling application.

What is the size of the battery bank?

How much power does he have for charging?

The initial settings you posted seem ok but I would maybe bump Absorb up to 4 hours. Keep an eye on water consumption and specific gravities to help guide future tweaks to the charge parameters.

The only markings I can find are heat stamped on the top of the battery : "N28BJ" but nothing Googles. The size of the battery indicates that it is in the 600 AH range (just guessing) . The system has 48 batteries in 2 banks of 24, so 1200AH at 48Volts. The system has 3 Flexmax 80s with 27 ea x 305 watt panels (8200 watts approx). The system is "Laguna". You recently replied to a different post concerning "Bypass Mode". I will adjust the Absorb. parameters accordingly. Thanks for the help.
