Flexmax 80 Chargers front panel info

Post by mrt » Wed Jan 30, 2019 9:24 am

Good day all.
This is my first posting to this forum and I thank you for accepting my membership.
I have 2 Flexmax 80 chargers connected to my 48v batteries communicating via the hub. One of the chargers was replaced yesterday by a new unit due to lightning damage. The charger that was from the original setup is showing EQ (Equalising) on the front screen all the time whereas the newly replaced charger is showing Bulk all the time. Is this correct and/or acceptable?

You should validate that all settings are the same between the 2 controllers, it sounds like your earlier one may have had changes from the default, and the new not. Also, you should ensure the controller voltage is correctly calibrated.
Cheers

Thanks Garth.
I forced a Bulk action on the charger and now both chargers are in bulk mode and working perfectly.

Cheers

still a good idea to go through all the settings and get them the same . The EQ setting should not be on unless it has been set to auto EQ , or you have asked it to EQ .
In my opinion best not to have auto eq set .

Thanks petertearai

I have set both chargers the same and the equalisation is set to auto. After consideration I agree with you - best not to set the chargers to auto equalisation due to equalisation automatically starting even with heavy DC loads. The battery water will have to be monitored also and maybe the equalisation takes place when I am not there. I will set the chargers for manual equalisation.
