Basic settings for FlexMax 60 with LiFePO4 Batteries

Postby TechMan on Wed Sep 12, 2018 2:56 pm

Hi,
Can someone from Outback tell me how I should set up my new FlexMax60 for use with Battleborn LiFePO4 Batteries?
The batteries do have an internal BMS. Perhaps a firmware update with a lithium battery profile??
I have the following 24V system:
Outback GVFX3524
Outback FlexMax 60
Outback MATE3
Battleborn LiFePO4 Batteries

Thanks in advance,
Techman

Hi TechMan,

I suggest you ask the manufacturer what charge settings to use then program them into the FM60. You might have to set Absorb and Float to the same target voltage. It should be pretty simple because the batteries already have an internal BMS.

Here is the Manual for the 12 Volt 100 AH battery they sell. Expensive batteries they are.

https://battlebornbatteries.com/wp-cont ... Manual.pdf

I run a 2018 Chevy Volt battery on my system and I have it set up for 14 cells in serries and the FM60 settings are 56.8 for Absorb and 56.4 for Float and the time 0 for both. This give me a battery voltage of 4.05 volts per cell.

Read the Manual and call the battery maker is you have questions. They should be able to help you out.

Never Never Equalize them ever.

Thanks All.
I did download the battery manual and their web site says to follow the AGM setting parameters.
I'll let you know how it all works out when I switch out my Blue Sky MPPT charge controller to the FM60.

Best,

FYI,
Battle Born says you can add several parallel strings but to make sure you fully charge each battery individually before connecting them,
so they will all balance correctly together.
