Need help installing Temp Sensor on FM80

Postby rcteel5 on Mon Apr 16, 2018 8:32 am

I have read the FM80 manual, done online searches but cannot find specific instructions on installing the RTS.

I assume you power down, plug in the RTS and place the sensor between batteries....but want to be sure there are not any other considerations or changes that need to be made in the Menu. Appreciate any guidance you can provide. My (outside) temps can range from 90F to -30F.

Hello Roger,

Here is an instructional video on the RTS and how to install it:
https://youtu.be/O2rz4D_TQ_w

But you don't need to shut down the equipment.

Thanks, Jorge. I had found that video in my search and watched it. It shows where to plug the RTS in, etc, but does not say anything about needing to make changes to settings. Do I just plug it in and the FM 80 does the rest....or do I need to make any changes in the FM80 menu?

The devices will automatically sense the RTS and begin compensating.
You can confirm by going to the MISC menu then pressing NEXT twice. The Btmp number should be other than 255 or 0. This is your battery temperature reading. Note that this is not a Celsius or Fahrenheit number but rather a resistive number.
