Charge Controllers remains in Bulk status

Postby lrperez99 on Thu Jun 27, 2019 7:48 am

Hi,
After doing an equalization, the charge controllers are behaving weird. This morning the controllers remained in Charged status and didn't produce solar energy. I had to turn it off/on and then started to generate but the status is always in Bulk. Before the equalization the controllers initiated in bulk and the changed to Float for the rest of the day. This could be a problem with the controllers or with the PV array?

Is there a way to run a diagnostic to the charge controllers?

At this time your system is in a Sell status. Both of your CCs are still in the Bulk state because they have not yet reach the target Absorb voltage of 57.6. They are likely to stay that way for as long as the Selling is going on.

Thanks Greg. any idea why the charger stayed in charged state and didn't started to generate until I did a restart?

Maybe, after the equalization, at that time, the battery bank voltage was at or above the Float voltage level, so CC logic says "don't do anything". When that happens and you want charging to take place, you don't have to power cycle the CC. You will lose the day's harvest record doing it that way. On the CC display, point the arrow to Misc, then click RSTRT (4th button) and charging will recommence.

Thanks. What confused me was seen the battery charging from the grid (see attached jpg) ant not from the controller. Lets see how behave tomorrow. Thanks again.

Because the Equalization process was courtesy of the Grid.

Agree, but I forgot to mention that the equalization was done yesterday around 12:30 pm. Also tonight is still charging the battery from grid (see attached file). This behavior is different compared before the equalization.

Under the Misc tab of CC. There are 3 options on the dropdown: There is no "Now" option ;-(
1. Off
2. Every 90 minutes
3. Every 90 mins if absorb/float
