HELP: Wind generator & AC Power

Postby phasespace on Sun Jun 22, 2014 6:47 pm

I have two questions I need help with. I have a Outback FX2012M Charger/Inverter. I just purchased a Sunforce 400W turbine (has it's own charge controller)

1) How do I hook up the wind turbine to the inverter? Or because it has a charge controller, should I just hook up to the batteries directly?

2) I have AC power in my boat when plugged in. When unplugged, I only get DC power. What do I have to do to get the outback to spit out AC power as well?

If you need more information, I will do my best to provide.

1, Directly to batteries through appropriate breakers,
2, It will have to be wired "in line" with your incoming shore power, Eg shore power in to AC IN on inverter, AC OUT of inverter to distribution panel, again through appropriate breakers of course :-)

My comments are based on my experience and research, They are not endorsed or checked by Outback.I am an independent British electrician living in Spain, So please take this into account when reading /acting on my post`s.
