Mate3 question..

Postby Murphy625 on Sun Sep 10, 2017 9:29 pm

If I have a Radian inverter and Flexmax controller, can the Mate3 programming unit be hot-swapped between them? In other words, if everything is up and running, can the Mate3 be unplugged from one unit and plugged into another unit?

I didn't purchase any hubs.. just the Radian inverter, flexmax 80, and a mate3.

Thanks,

Murphy,

To answer your question, yes. You can hot swap a MATE3 from one device to another. Depending what you are trying to accomplish there might be some caveats to consider. A bit more info will be helpful. Adding all your system components in your profile speeds things up.

I plan to install the Radian 8048, a Flexmax 80 charge controller, and a 48 volt battery bank..

I just want to make sure that when I wire everything up and need to program it, that I can swap the Mate3 from the Radian to the Flexmax controller without having to turn anything off or do anything funky.. just unplug one cable, plug the other one in.

This will be purely off grid for emergency purposes only in case of an extended power outage.

That would be fine. You may also program and monitor the FM80 from it's built in screen.

Do not forget that as you are not using a HUB you will need a separate battery temp sensor for both Inverter & FM

Since the Radian and Flexmax won't be linked through the Mate3, if I hook up a generator to the Radian, will I encounter any problems with the Radian and Flexmax fighting each other while charging batteries?
