Sync on 2 VFX 3024E Invertors

Postby LeighC on Sun Mar 19, 2017 10:47 pm

Hello,
I have a chance to buy a S/H Outback system with,
2 X MX60's
2 X VFX3024E invertors
1 Hub
2 x Mates
These were connected to 2 separate sets of solar modules, 1 24 v battery bank & on a 240 v/50 Hertz A/C single phase house mini grid.
One of the VFX invertors has never worked & the owners were told it was a sync issue & a firmware issue which was never followed up.
The rest of the system works fine & it is all about 10 years old.
Does any one know if this could be corrected today or would I be able to just remove the one invertor (if it is not damaged) & use it somewhere else.
Thanks in advance.

Sounds like it is just programing ? Why the two mates ? you can not use 2 at once, also maybe the problem ? But if all else fails, fatory default the VFXs and start from page 1

Thanks Tim,
I think the second mate was installed in the house & it was interchanged with one in the shed.
I haven't had any experience with the VFX invertors, I have a 12 year old MX60 that has run faultlessly in that time & the later 3 yrs with LiFePo4 batts.
I'm told the system was installed in two stages 1/2 in 2006 (1200 watts) & the rest in 2008 may be they ran out of capacity.
Seems strange the dealer did not get it sorted if it was that easy.
Thanks - Leigh

Presuming both inverters do light up when they are "on their own" ? ( connect mate & DC only)
Have a look through the inverter settings, You should see "master" on port 1 of mate & "slave 1" on port two ?

Thanks for your replies,
I will wait till I see the system which about 7 hours away & still connected to solar modules & batteries that have a bit of age on them which I don't really want, the owner is going to try & sell it all together & will let me know by Easter if he will sell just the Outback components.
The owner is new to the property & I asked him if he has ever heard the fans running on either of the MX60's & he said he hasn't, this may be a problem with 1200 watts going through each & could be +35°C temps over here.
I will let you know if any thing eventuates & need help again.
Thanks - Leigh
