FW500 and dual VFX3648

Post by Solarmusher » Mon Jul 22, 2013 12:52 pm

Hi all,
I have an old FW500 that I was using 5 years ago with one VFX3648, I'd like to use it with dual VFX3648 in a new set up and have a few questions:
Do I need one or two 2/0 cable pairs from battery to each 175A disconnect ?
I already have one VFX3648 which is 5 years old, could I add and stack a new unit (not bought yet) with I suppose very different firmwares?
I've had several problem with my old VFX but it's another story, Romex was missing in the inverter, is that a problem?
Do I need two or just one Outback surge protections on each inverters?
All advices greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Erik

Hello Eric,

Excellent project that you have! I believe I can answer two questions below.

Do I need one or two 2/0 cable pairs from battery to each 175A disconnect ? One pair to each breaker will do if less than 8 feet

Do I need two or just one Outback surge protections on each inverters? One outBack surge protector on each inverter.

Can you educate me on "Romex was missing in the inverter"? Thank you.
