Winterizing MH

Postby Jerry on Thu Oct 19, 2017 1:09 pm

Just bought my 1st MH, it has 7 solar panels and Outback. I winterized the unit and removed all 6 batteries but come spring I have no idea as to what to do at start up. Do I just re-hook up the batteries and the system will re-start or do I have a bunch of set up to do. Any help would be appreciated... Thanks Jerry

That's a MagnaSine inverter, this is an Outback forum.

Yes I know it's a magna... that is the coach inverter and I know the Outback has one as well... I just don't have the info off the Outback to give you that Inverter info, I am in the right forum, just don't have the info required for to give the forum.. my apologies for any bother to people.

No problem, no bother. When you get the info post it here, someone will have an answer for you.

You're probably going to want to keep those batteries on a charger of some kind over the winter months. If they're kept up then in the spring your system should fire right up again without a hiccup.

FWIW, here's the steps I follow when re-energizing my system following a shutdown:

- turn on the main battery to inverter circuit breakers. These should be the largest breaker(s) in your system
- if you have a grid-tie, turn on the AC in breaker supplying (shore) power TO your system inverter(s)
- turn on the breaker(s) between your charge controller (MX60?) and your batteries
- turn on the breaker from your PV array to your charge controller(s)

Hope this helps!
