Re: Configuration Settings for 2nd Outback MX60 Charge Controlle

Hello, The reason one is bringing in 900 watts and the other 0 watts is because when you're in absorb, and the current needed to keep that battery bank at absorb decreases (You're getting closer to 100%). This will cause one charge controller to take over as the other shows "EX-ABSORB" because it se...

Re: LVD setpoint and system going down to 0.5% SOC

Hello, Are you using Low Battery Cut Out on the inverter or are you using the charge controller Low Batt Disconnect aux function? If low battery cut out on the inverter, the only reason this would happen is if the voltage went from 47.8 to 44v in less then five minutes (unlikely). I say this because...

Re: What voltage wind generator needed?

Hello,

You will need a 48v output unless you can step up the voltage.

Also make sure you're not connecting the wind to the MX60 as it will only work with Solar, and Micro Hydro.

I hope this helps.

There is not a way to change the frequency on the mate. What model inverter do you have?

Make sure you get charge parameters from you're battery manufacture. Also I would run an EQ if you haven't already.

Re: Are batteries nessary for grid tie only?

You do need batteries. If you are just connected to PV you do not have a stable voltage to the inverter meaning you could end up with a higher voltage from the PV to the inverter. Also if the Grid goes down at night and you do not have batteries then the inverter will shut down completely.

Re: Charging with VFX inverter

If you have the problem again and the red light is blinking you will want to go to the status meters and see what the incoming voltage is. You will also want to go to STATUS>FX>PG2>Warn and look for a message that has a yes instead of a no.

Plug the mate into the Inverter and keep it there. You can program the FM80 on its own.

Re: When load is small, can battery cycling be avoided?

You cannot connect directly from the charge controller to the inverter. That being said, if you have enough solar you shouldn't see the battery voltage come down much at all as the solar will continue to keep the batteries topped off.

Have a good one.

The FM60 has Low Battery Disconnect in the Aux settings. You can use this to switch a 12VDC relay to shut off loads to save your batteries from dropping down to far.

The Radian is not designed or been tested for mobile applications so I do not recommend using it for this application. As for lithium batteries, the charging Algorithm was designed for lead acid technology. If you would like to use lithium technology I would contact the battery manufacture. Have a g...

What is the current firmware revision on your VFX. I think the latest firmware is 061 as that is for domestic FX/VFX inverters but I am not sure if it is the same for the export FX/VFX inverters.

Re: Stand alone as first use, after grid tie back Up

1. My first suggestion will be to add more panels as you will need enough to charge your batteries as well as supply your loads. 2. Where are you located as this will determine the type of inverter you should have. (Vented or sealed) 3. If you are going to use an outback charge controller and invert...

Re: FM 80 best way to configure array

The input rating on a FM80 is 64amps. The "80" in FM80 represents the output amperage. If you can post the Make and Model of the panels I'll try to help more.

Re: Multiple Charge Controllers

You can have multiple charge controllers tied to the same battery bank. Since you will have it plugged into the hub you will want to enable float coordination, you can do this through the Mate by going to ADV>MATE>PG3>CC then set "enable CC float coordination:" to YES. You will be able to see both c...

Re: FM80 CC - array sizing and correct PV breaker wire sizes

1. This does not seem to be a problem.
2. A 60 amp breaker will work for your PV disconnect as the PV input rating on a FM80 is 64.
3. Depends on a lot of factors.
I am not going to be able to help on the last two questions.

Re: OUTBACK FLEX 80

If you go over maximum you could damage the controller. The reason for this is even though you are not exceeding the input ratings, when you step down the voltage for a 24VDC battery bank the amperage can jump past the 80 amp rating for a FLEXmax80.
