My poor batteries...

So we had some gray/cloudy days as winter starts to get near... so as usual my battery bank wasn't getting fully charged every day like it does during the summer. I run the generator a bit here and there, but never to 100%. Finally there's a sunny day or two but even with some genny help the batteri...

Re: SOC suddenly jumps to 100%

I suspect that with better data resolution you might be able to see that the voltage rose above the charged threshold briefly. At 10:20 the current could have dropped below the charged threshold briefly. While these two separate events should not trigger the FNDC to reset to 100%, it seems to. By "...

Re: SOC suddenly jumps to 100%

What is the resolution of the data that is plotted in the graphics? And what is the native resolution of the data? My house sends instantaneous data every minute but only keeps one data point for each 5 minutes for the purposes of drawing the graphs faster and reducing the data storage of my databa...

Re: Post any forum strangeness here

This is a test posting. I have been having trouble with the board automatically logging me out before I can make a posting. It's true, I used to stay logged in for weeks. But now I have to log in every time I check the site. Multiple times in the same day. And if you have threads or messages open i...

Re: SOC suddenly jumps to 100%

FWIW, I still (7 months later) am going back and forth with Support. Have provided a lot of data, but still no resolution or explanation that fits the evidence. I still regularly am seeing my FNDC resetting to 100% in conditions which donÔÇÖt seem to make sense. It leads to the reported status being...

Re: Battery Voltage

Each component has it's own voltmeter. Pressing the battery key shows the FNDC's reading of the voltage, where as pressing the inverter key gives you the inverter's reading of the voltage. You can calibrate the voltages on the CCs and FXs to match the FNDC. My recommendation would be to wait until t...

Re: Mate inverter status LED blinks

Inverter light blinking means it's in "search" mode... which means it's not inverting but detecting to see if there is a load.

I sometimes see the charger LED blinking unexpectedly, but it's because if I enter EQ mode and it doesn't "finish" it'll stay in EQ mode the next morning.

Re: x-240 excessive current draw

I have a transformer set up to balance between my inverters, and I notice a distinct imbalance when running off the generator even though the transformer is on the "out" side. The generator is 240v, so it's connected to both investors (1 leg each.) If i'm running the generator I see an imbalanced lo...

Re: Anybody Have Experience With These Batteries?

From your profile it looks like you have a 48-volt system. So you'd need 24 of these in series since they are only 2-volt batteries. Pretty sure that's a bad idea. That doesn't make sense, that's how some of the "racks" of batts from (for example) Outback are set up. Essentially a single rack is on...

Re: Mate3 communications on computer?

You may be talking about a bug in firmware 002.017.000 that is causing the battery temp to be misreported. It shows up as ### on the Mate3 web interface, and in the data stream it is reported as some low temp, i think 2┬░ for some crazy reason. I posted about it originally here: http://www.outbackpo...

Re: OPTICS RE - More Info?

I just got some new info. Hello Tim, Optics RE Purchase Details If you purchased your MATE3 prior to 3/1/14, there is a $100 upgrade free to receive the Optics RE software. For new MATE3 purchases after 8/16/14, you will be able to download the firmware/upgrade for view-only. At the end of the year ...

Re: "192.168.000.064" is not 192.168.0.64 !

His Mac, like my Win7 and Linux versions, interprets an octet with a leading zero as an octal value, so it tried to talk to .52 (8*6+4) instead of .64! Yes, I know that out of laziness or luck, most people never type leading zeros. But even I didn't know about the octal interpretation. I'd say it m...

Re: Web interface documentation

You might want to go back and look at the original MATE documentation, it may fill some holes that exist in the MATE3 manual. I'm happy to answer the questions you currently have though: PV Output: yes, this only shows what's being "used" for loads and charging because that's all that's being genera...

And please start adding the TIME along with the DATE in the UDP data packets...please!!! Couldn't agree more! the Data Stream absolutely should include timestamps from the MATE, since it uses it's internal clock to decide when to reset certain statistics! Sorry - I can't agree with this one. The MA...

Re: MATE3 Data String Interpretation

Hmm... OK, I'm still curious... :-k What are you hoping to track, time-wise, that requires that level of accuracy? I, for one, just want to have the timestamp from the device which is resetting counters and values at midnight. My data logging system will drift out of sync, since it has it's own clo...

Re: Time management - how to solve DST?

My biggest issue is that the MATE3 resets certain things at midnight (daily totals, maybe some other things?) and when there's drift between my clocks then my "final" datapoint for a day sometimes ends up being post-reset. So I just happened to look at the JSON that is served from the mate* and saw ...

Re: MATE3 Data String Interpretation

Which interface are you using? USB or Ethernet/UDP? The UDP Data Stream has never had timestamps to my knowledge... Here's are some sample UDP packets I dissected when troubleshooting some logging code: <01,2,05,00,00,000,116,00,02,000,00,500,024,000> <02,2,00,00,00,000,117,00,00,000,00,500,024,000>...
