I use preview and I've never noticed a problem. What page(s) do you see problems with?

Re: SOC suddenly jumps to 100%

That's why this "undocumented logic" works. Yeah, except outback told me (and I quote): Net amp hours > 0 AND Battery volts < ( Absorb setpoint - 0.5 ) AND Average net amps (to the battery) > 0 The voltage has to be BELOW the absorb set point. It sure is easy to get the net amp hours above zero and...

Re: SOC suddenly jumps to 100%

I did look at your charts. My conclusion was that you didn't have good enough resolution to know what all was going on. What I've seen with systems, especially when they really are close to fully charged, is that the sweep of the array by the charge controller can create a false "parameters met" so...

Re: SOC suddenly jumps to 100%

The SOC jumps to 100% when the charge parameters are met. If that happens to coincide with when your reach 0 uncompensated amp-hours, so be it. Yes of course, I but *that* doesn't happen until later in the day in my case(s). Like I said, I fully understand and believe the charge parameters portion ...

Re: SOC suddenly jumps to 100%

That's it. That's the sum total of all the problems I've ever found with the FLEXnet DC in 6 years or so of looking. The biggest problem with the FLEXnet DC is that it is very challenging to properly configure and the documentation that OutBack has produced leaves a lot to be desired. The FLEXnet D...

Re: What do these settings mean?

You are right, it's to set the scale for the charts and graphs on the mate3. It might also affect some of it's warning lights etc.

And yes, you set it to 3.6kW for your inverter.

Re: SOC suddenly jumps to 100%

Today, for completely unknown reasons, my FNDC did *not* reset to 100% when net Ah reached 0. It actually waited until the Charge Factor Corrected Ah reached 0! I did nothing, I changed nothing. Today it just decided to work. Bet it won't tomorrow. Outback Support has simply stopped responding to my...

Re: SOC suddenly jumps to 100%

In summary I should say that in my testing it appears as though the FNDC is going to reset to 100% when the net Ah reaches zero, pretty much no matter what I do. So I could set the charge factor back to a realistic value but it won't change when the FNDC gets to 100%, it will simply make the graph l...

Re: OutBack MATE3 Jepefe's On-Line Monitor new version

Imagine a small black box with a USB port and a CAT5 connection. Plug the MATE3 USB into the box, the box into the network, and voila - remote monitoring and control from anywhere. I haven't looked into it yet but I was thinking it wouldn't be hard to make the MonitorMate project I work on also fun...

Welp, it is when Net Ah hits zero... but compensated is nowhere near zero.

Re: SOC suddenly jumps to 100%

And this is where the "jump" happens, because sulfation results in premature "Parameters Met". Tallgirl, I think most of us understand (and agree) that the device should jump to 100% if the parameters are met. That's the point of the parameters in fact... But Kent and I are talking about a case tha...

Re: SOC suddenly jumps to 100%

Perhaps it's not broken. But it's not reporting information correctly, and everyone (outback tech support) seems to say that it's something I'm doing. But NOBODY can tell me what the problem really is. I'm happy to do any tests, provide any data, try anything at all. But Outback just said "if you li...

Re: SOC suddenly jumps to 100%

I've had this problem myself before and my fuzzy memory is that incorrect "charge factor", sulfated batteries, and some other corner cases, make it worse. I believe it also jumps when "Parameters Met" happens, and I've seen a LOT of systems where those settings are wrong. I'd expect it to jump to 1...

Re: SOC suddenly jumps to 100%

From your graphs it looks like you have the FNDC connected to three shunts. If you can look at the amphour data, I think you'll see what causes the reset. You'll probably conclude that given a few hours with the source code, this FNDC bug could be fixed. Yes, I am using all three. I've contacted su...

Re: SOC suddenly jumps to 100%

Well Kent, Here's my data from March so far. In 23 days I see 10 of which the FNDC "jumped" to 100%. Most of the time it did it rather late, only jumping from 98% to 100%, but if you look at data from the 1st and 5th it jumped from 96% and 94% respectively. Welp a MATE3 power-cycling didn't work. So i re-flashed back to 002.015.000 and it's working fine again. I guess I'll hang back and wait for the next update... Although it really looks like they are focused on Radian features more than bug fixes or adding anything for those of us with older hardware.

Batt Temp and Firmware 002.017.000

I updated from 002.015.000 to 002.017.000 this morning and all of a sudden my temp reading dropped to -2 on my logging software. It looks like from the mate's own page it's showing as ###. I felt like I had just read something about temp readings being -2... what was that... Oh right, in the README!...

Re: OutBack MATE3 Jepefe's On-Line Monitor new version

Would it be possible to interface with an older Mate? I have a serial to USB coming out of the Mate. Re: SOC suddenly jumps to 100%

Because of the sporadic resets to 100%, it's probably a good idea to disable charge termination based on the FNDC. True. Do you think this is entirely a bug in the FNDC? I don't think there's been a firmware update to the FNDC since i got it (2+ years ago) and it seems unlikely that this is a hardw...

Re: SOC suddenly jumps to 100%

Did your generator run earlier in the day? If the battery voltage is temporarily raised above the charged value, the FNDC can reset prematurely later in the day. It'll often happen on marginal solar charging days. Unless you are logging data, which most folks aren't doing, it is really rare to obse...
