Re: Flexmax80 In Australia

Hi good luck with the solar power. I went solar because the cost of cable from road was more than my simple solar system. In NZ we dont have any subsidies.Interested in the Aussie subsidies,Do you get a subsidie on off grid power as well as grid connect ? In NZ you can do the dc side yourself and get...

another temp sensor question

Page 40 says EQ voltage is not temp compensated.
Page 62 Says Batt too hot menage will be indicated if temp has reached 50deg and fm80 will stop charging.

Will the fm80 stop charging when the temp reaches 50 deg when an equalization is in progress .
Any one know the answer

Giday from sunny Auckland.
Try the string sizing tool in the general section of this forum it will help on the different ways you can set the panels up.

Re: Inverters sometimes do not start 240 volt pump

Could it be a poor connection or crimp on dc or ac side?.Try a resistive load of some type and use a digital volt meter [while the load is on].Put one end of the meter at one end of the battery lead to the inverter then the other end at the inverter [same cable].This will show if there is an excessi...

Re: A prime number of modules.

First case you could, but little sense in that as the max amps is pretty much limited to amps of all the panels in series.
Second case 4 panels in series ok,but you are left with 3 panels over.Maybe buy one more panel the same as the other ones and you could have an effective series parallel set up?

Glad to hear other people having trouble getting there heads around the rts . A manual written in layman's language would be great.

Re: Help, Installed RTS and batteries not charging!

Had a similar problem , I found the absorb setting limited to 14.1 volts when the rts was plugged in. Page 50 of the manual. I set it to wide and the absorb came up to the 14.4 it was set to. Not sure if this was the correct way to do it, but worked for me.

Re: Battery Diagnosis?

From what i am starting to learn is that a high voltage and low sg can mean sulphation. An equalize may be in order and checking the strings are even in cable lengths and therefore amps.

Re: rts

I think sorted .The fm80 had its setting to" limit " 14.1 .Changed to" wide " and now voltage goes up to the set 14.5 volts.
14.1 must be the default setting for the fm80.

Hi Is there a more complete description of how to set the Wide or limit settings .When i installed the sensor and pluged it in it would seem the default was to limit at 14.1 volts on absorb. Unfortunately i didn't notice this for 3 months. Luckily Ive done a couple eqilizations during this time. I h...

Re: rts

Thanks for your reply. The sensor is one third down in the middle of the 4 batterys, encosed in battery box outside with vent holes .A thred on the off grid forum has explained the start point is 25 deg c , then plus or minus per deg from there. Is the rts plug and play, or is a power down or factory...

rts

Trying to get my head around the rts. my 12 volt system would have 30 millivolts per deg c compensation. So at 20 deg c = no compensation And for every deg under voltage is increased by 30 mv.Conversly every deg above 20deg voltage is reduced by 30mv.Is that how it works?

so set the absorb to forever and watch the amps .When the amps reaches a constant amps for 10 or so minutes record that value. Then input that value as the end amps. Regards Peter

Re: new batterys charge settings

Thanks for your help. Was thinking, seeing my system is typicly used for 2 days then a gap of 1 to 3 weeks with no draw from system except the pump running for approx 1.5 hours mid week. Is the time setting best for absorb, or is an end amp setting better?
