Re: Low Voltage Cutoff issue (Outback system with Rolls S550

I usually go about 0.4 v below 2 min start, Yes go the rolls settings, you may want to go "all day" on absorb for now untill your SGs come up, (keep eye on water levels)

Re: Low Voltage Cutoff issue (Outback system with Rolls S550

Sounds good, As you say, Give it another week but I would do EQ anyway

To add, please remember EQ is not a timed operation, Charge at normal voltage untill ALL cells stop rising, Elevate to EQ voltage and charge again untill ALL SGs stop rising,

Re: Outback VFX3648 AC input maximum

According to the spec sheet for the Outback VFX3648, it should allow an AC input of 60aac. For whatever reason, my Outback VFX3648 will only allow a maximum of 20aac from my generator. I think the number you are looking at is the charge current to batteries in AC amps, 20a x 120v/48v = 50a DC minus...

Re: Panel hook up advice for a newbie

2 strings of 4 is over max VOC, 4 strings of 2 is just about there with VMP voltage, Any chance of adding one more panel ? 3x3 would be a better option if it was possible,

Re: Check out my outback power system!

I do not like exposed Aluminium busbars and connections, Firstly because they are not insulated and second they are aluminium, Copper would have been my choice, I do not see any DC breakers or fuses at all ? You need them battery bus to inverter, panels to controller, controller to batteries, I woul...

Re: Water pressure pump selection and battery life

So, I suppose you could get a regular booster pump and wire it through the SteadyPres and it would control ramp and flow rate based on demand? Yes, The grunfos is basically just an all in one unit of the two things, You could put a steadypres on your well pump, But that would not fix the night runn...

Re: Water pressure pump selection and battery life

Be careful with deep well pumps like that, The have very high start current (LRA, Locked rotor amps) due to their thin deign, Think long wrench compared to short on a tight bolt, I would look at normal pressure pumps instead and if not the grunfos you can use a normal and add your own speed drive if...

Re: Water pressure pump selection and battery life

Option 2, It will scroll its speed up and down automatically to hold pressure so at 13gpm will probably rarely run at full power & another plus is your shower will be better than ever (good pressure & no hot, cold)

Re: Low Voltage Cutoff issue (Outback system with Rolls S550

You bulk charge untill ALL of the SGs stop rising, Do not worry too exactly about the numbers at the moment, It is what they are doing is important.

Re: Opinions on generator appreciated

With all of them be careful to check the warranty conditions, Some have nasty little off grid clauses in the small print, And if you want to remote start, they have that capability (2 wire start) But if the Honda does come good, The other benefit is that it is an inverter generator, It will save you...

I have to spin the wheels by hand before hitting the on switch to keep the load from throwing the inverter offline. When you say this, what is happening ? inverter red light and shut down ? (overload) Breaker gos out ? I still have a similar problem Even with the generator running because the power...

Re: Low Voltage Cutoff issue (Outback system with Rolls S550

So a couple of points. My installer has said that the FNDC should re-calibrated itself over the course of a few days. He says that when it reboots, it assumes batteries are at 100% SOC, but then begins to adjust if that isn't the case. Is that correct? He is correct that on reboot it assumes 100 % ...

Re: Low Voltage Cutoff issue (Outback system with Rolls S550

However, due to really bad weather, I'm not able to charge the bats (which are at 1.200 SG) using the panels. Instead, I hooked up my genset (Honda 5000 EM). The only issue that I have now is that the system only draws about 0.960 KwH from the genset into the batteries The inverter settings as ment...

Re: Low Voltage Cutoff issue (Outback system with Rolls S550

You are getting no absorb time due by the seem of it,,,, A very badly configured FNDC, Your SGs of 1.200 indicate an approximate SOC of 50% and the fact they have not risen is due to no absorb time, For the first few months I would suggest you disable the FNDC and run just on timed absorb (4 to 5 hr...

Any idea why he wants 3ph ? You only really need it for motors or if you have 3ph generator, There may be better options if either is the case,

Re: My Outback System Schematic

If you still think I need to up this to 175 Amps per inverter, I will change these breakers. The 3048 will happily surge to over 100a DC for 5 seconds, Which will cause nuisance tripping on an 80a, You could go with a 125 amp to save a bit of money, But I prefer the 175a setup for 48v, The breakers...

Re: How to size a new generator

About 8 KVA would be good,(A reasonably standard rule of thumb is twice the size of your inverter, Adjusted a little for circumstance) if diesel, 1800rpm is better than a 3600rpm (1500&3000 if 50hz) as it obviously spins at half the speed, so will (should) last longer & less frequent maintenance, If...

Re: Flexnet DC Keeps Showing Lower and Lower Battery SOC

It does sound like your batteries are fully charged, But Please check that with a hydrometer first, If indeed so, Unplug FNDC and replug, It defaults to 100% SOC, Which is where batteries should be when first installed anyway, You will then need to look at the calibration of the FNDC and adjust acco...

Yes not hard to find, But can someone please confirm which board it is please, been about 5 years since I did that one, There are 3 boards, Control, AC & FET, it is 100% not FET but I am unsure if it is AC or Control ? Anyone ?

Re: My Outback System Schematic

You may want to have a rethink on the DC breaker sizing, 3048s usually run through a 175 amp DC breaker each and if you have a master as you show, 300A may cause nuisance tripping, A " LARGE" class T fuse is more normal there (500 to 600 amp) Breakers, http://www.outbackpower.com/outback-products/ha...

Correct, The G series do not like normal gens but will run on an inverter gen, Not sure on the GTVX (presume the same?) but on the GVFX is is only the control board you need to change to convert it to a VFX ( The cheaper board, about 300 ish)

Re: Mate 3 battery graph

The drop off looks fairly normal to me, you can see after the short absorb (why short?) The bat voltage drops off quicker than the long one, The concern for me is that it rises to quickly, EG no bulk time at start of charge & it is difficult to read the voltages from the pic so not sure on your abso...
