Re: System Setting Issues or Battery Issue?

Blackswan555: Yes, there are battery temp sensors as I requested they be installed and the solar installer charged me for them. I do not think it has anything to do with your missing absorb cycle but for future reference your casita temp sensor is not working, the "255" reading on this "Btmp (readi...

Re: Hot water: Rinnai

Guessing that your problem is being caused by water pressure issues you may want to take a look at these, http://brownbros.com.au/products/product/steadypres-electronic-pump-controller (Random website, More manufactures, But I have used that unit with very good results) I would presume you can get s...

Re: System Setting Issues or Battery Issue?

left the absorb time setting for the time being at 3.0 hours as that is the Concorde recommended setting for their AGMs. Do you think I should still bump it up to 4 hours? You could do, The problem I am seeing from your numbers is that you are not even getting your 3 hrs at the moment with the CCs ...

Re: Is there any danger in plugging in MC cables?

Not night but I always leave one panel per series string disconnected whilst I have my hands "in there", You can still sometimes get a little tingle, But compared to a possible 120v plus DC tingle, it is nothing (120v DC will kill you on a bad day)

Re: System Setting Issues or Battery Issue?

As Sandy says, You seem not to be getting much absorb time, around 4 hrs would be a more reasonable number to see, Check your absorb time setting, Also Amps do seem low, You may want to look at what is being produced mid afternoon on a good Sun day, Batteries fully charged, Go into house and turn so...

Re: SOC doesn't match Load kwhr in Dashboard

You could put some of it down to losses, But 10% seems a bit much, It sounds like your FNDC is still in need of more calibration, (especially if the batteries are reasonably new) What are your SGs vs what the FNDC & Optics are telling you ? Tim To add, I recommend cross referencing/checking FNDC aga...

Sorry about the tech speak  Q:Has it ever been serviced? A:I don't think so. Q:EQd? A: What's that mean? Q: Do you know your FM charge settings, Absorb v & Time A: No I don't know any of that stuff still learning. I was most likely set by the installer. Q: Get a hydrometer and post the SGs for...

Re: Batteries Below Full Charge

It will take a few days/cycles to get them back up unless you want to run a grid/gen powered source to give them a boost, Your absorb voltage could also go up to 58.4 for now, That should see some improvement over the next few days,

Re: Batteries Below Full Charge

As Mike says but in a slightly different way  You need to disable the FNDC from any charge control at the moment and do it by time untill you have it calibrated correctly, ( and new batteries ? they will take about 70 cycles to run in,) Either set SOC start and stop to 0 and there is also a e...

Re: charge parameters for 450Amp/hr battery bank on VFX3024E

I am not an AGM expert, But a couple of things to keep in mind, You MUST NOT overvoltage AGM as it will kill them very quickly so it is important to have battery temp sensor about half way down what will be your hottest cell and your charge voltage and max current set correctly, You do not equalise ...

Thanks Jim  ,,,,, Although my answer is pretty much out the manual, I add the Mrs bit to try to make it clearer that the inverter is in charge mode (it can only be in one mode at once, eg it is an inverter OR a charger) and the house is just passing through, It can back off its charge but it c...

Re: need dual battery cables if I only have 1 string?

Sorry to throw a spanner in the works but I would go a different route, single 000 cable & a 250amp fuse/breaker on the battery end & link across breakers inverter end, Why ? The inverter is 8000/48 = 166 amps continuous and a reasonably easily obtainable surge of 12000/48= 250amps which the fuse sh...

Re: Slow charging

I would go,,, Charger on max (you need it) The other setting is AC2 gen input limit, This limits the total amount of amps that can be drawn from generator by BOTH passed through house loads and Charge current, When it sees that number it backs off charge to try to stay below, It obviously can not ba...

I was google searching to better understand and i found this article. Yes that is basically it, Although you do not use float when generator charging as it is a total waste of fuel in off grid, (set float time to 0 in AGS menu) Ohh I think I understand, are you saying the the Charge Stages should b...

Re: Slow charging

I have a 8kw generator, but my mate3 says that only .8 kw are coming from my generator to the batteries. If the batteries are low and charging correctly, I would expect more around 3.5 kw, If the system has gone into float, it may be that low, What State Of Charge were the batteries in ? Do you hav...

How old is the bank, Has it ever been serviced / EQd ? Do you know your FM charge settings, Absorb v & Time ? Get a hydrometer and post the SGs for the whole bank, Depending on age & treatment it "may" be possible to get them back,

That is why I thought to go 6 panels in series x 2 arrays. I suggest you have a look at your local codes first for an "approved" switch if you are connecting it to grid, Do a google for automatic transfer switch The big reason behind the "code" is it must have 2 methods of lockout, Mechanical & Electrical, Mechanical, A small pin in-between contractors, Ele...

Is there fool proof way of testing that each panel is ok? If you have an amp meter capable of reading up to 10 amps DC or a clamp meter , yes, on a sunny day, If a normal meter you would place it in circuit with panel, eg short panel out with it, (but only briefly, your meter will not like it too m...
