Re: Programming Error?

Here's my understanding: Once your battery completes a full absorb cycle, PV will try to hold it at the float voltage setpoint and support your loads (which have priority). If sunlight is not adequate battery (and any available PV) will be used for load support until the battery voltage reaches the ...

Re: Off Grid/Grid assisted solar system help

Being a strictly off-grid guy with an old FX, I know I can charge off my generator alone.
Ray, what I meant to say was that if there's PV available, I don't think you can prevent it from charging along with the grid, which maybe isn't what the OP had in mind, anyway...

Re: Off Grid/Grid assisted solar system help

The question is can I setup my system to have grid assisted power if my battery bank goes to low or batteries cutout? You sure can. Just wire the 120V grid input to your AC "Hot in" and "Neutral in" terminals (through a 120V breaker - 20A should be adequate). Rather than use the low voltage cutout ...

Re: Skybox selling to grid B4 "charge parameters met"

maybe it has always just used grid until PV started producing and now (I changed the TOU grid connect to 9:00 am) PV is coming on sooner than before
D'oh, I'm 99% sure this is the reason. Today I'll change the grid connect TOU back to 0730 and tomorrow morning that 1% uncertainty should be gone...

Mike,
Are you using "daily" or "weekday" in your settings? What date did you use in the schedule? I can't get this thing to work right. Thanks
I'm using daily, starting 4/16/2020. I don’t think it matters as long as it's a date prior to today's date.

Skybox selling to grid B4 "charge parameters met"

It looks like my Skybox charging behavior has changed since the firmware update. Before, each day when TOU reconnected to grid at 7:30 am, it would use the grid plus solar to bring the battery up to 100% SOC before allowing sell to grid: Screenshot_20201004-133050.jpg Now after the update, Skybox is...

Re: Battery Capacity Issue after upgrade

The secondary question I'm still a bit confused on. Shouldn't I have much more than 12 hours of battery when only pulling .3kw? If you're taking 18A out of an 800Ah battery for 12 hours, I'd expect 73% SOC if the batteries are healthy. Since you're below 60%, they're maybe not so healthy. Actually ...

Thanks for the clarification. They must have a lot of PV, considering how fast battery voltage rose before the grid came on.

Re: It's all fun and games..

He's grid tied. Easy to see he can afford to run 1500 watts of load overnight. I'm sure you're much more frugal.

Re: Grid Up, Batteries Charged, Lights Go Out

By a rough calculation based on the times and loads you listed, your battery expended 12 amphours while disconnected from grid. That's equivalent to about a 2.2% drop in SOC. As I said, rough. I agree with Ea6le-ONE, seems like battery voltage drop was a bit excessive for that short period. But 2.5k...

The plant in Seneca, PA took advantage of low grid prices at night to pump it up. Several nukes in the area with "must run" charters made it possible. Most all the coal burning plants in the area have shut down, though, so i don't know if this plant is still viable or even if operating, altho' wikip...

Re: 1.5.0 firmware release date?

Are you trying from the Skybox local interface/screen? Because that's the only way I could get mine to work, the web interface did not give me an update button to press.
I tried to update my skybox and its not working out.
What do you mean by "not working out"? Details?

The only significant difference between us is I'm not using a different schedule on weekends. But if yours worked with these settings before the firmware update then I'm stumped as to why it's not working now..

Re: Grid Up, Batteries Charged, Lights Go Out

I see the alternatives for Gen Input Mode are support, grid tied, UPS, backup, and mini-grid. Would one of those be more appropriate for this configuration? I don’t see where the voltage settings are that tell the generator to come on. There is also a "Generator" input mode. That's the one you shou...

Re: getting Classic stack GVFX3648 to accept gen output on AC In

Beechigby - The AC input limit setting is for the max voltage that you want to allow your inverters to pass through to your loads. It's a direct connection so the inverters don't have a problem with it (edit)/passing it through . It has nothing to do with AC volts used for charging or selling. But y...

Re: getting Classic stack GVFX3648 to accept gen output on AC In

Watching my AC input voltage it does ok until it reaches 129 vac. This is when it errors and resets. Alpine - When you get the error, go to your Mate3s and click on the Events button to see what the error was. That should tell you what caused the error - High voltage, frequency too high or low, etc...

Re: Grid Up, Batteries Charged, Lights Go Out

Don - Thinking about this more, here's what I think your system might be doing when these outages and gen starts occur: 1) For some unknown reason, the grid is not providing a charge to your battery when it reaches the refloat voltage setpoint of 50 volts; 2) Without the grid charging, your system b...

Its 75 vertical feet to the top of my property. Maybe someday I'll put a 10,000 gallon water tank up there, pump my domestic water to the top of the hill, and put in a micro turbine to capture electricity as we draw it down. The company where I used to work had a part ownership in a pumped storage ...

Re: Grid Up, Batteries Charged, Lights Go Out

@pss - hope you don't mind my chiming in here... Hi Don - looking at your setpojnts, my first reaction was that your gen start voltage, 44 volts, should be set higher than your low battery cutout which is now 46 volts. I'd suggest starting the generator at 48 volts. With the way it's set up now your...
