Re: FW v 1.5.11 stopped meeting charge parameters

Never mind! Looking at event history, it appears I inadvertently changed the absorb end amps from 12 to 31.35 (?!), and max SOC from 100% to 78% (another ?!). At the time these changes were made, I did update LBCO from 48 to 50.2 volts based on advice from the Simpliphi webinar earlier this week. I ...

FW v 1.5.11 stopped meeting charge parameters

My Skybox got the firmware update to v1.5.11 and now it no longer recharges my batteries to 100% SOC each day. The last time it worked properly was on 8/18: https://drive.google.com/file/d/127MkKcxOCMRYR21fN_P6wiZW3RbdIfp6/view?usp=drivesdk Starting on 8/19 & continuing today Skybox isn't restoring ...

Re: AC hot out function question for newbie

Hello, I'm brand new here and we are getting ready to connect our VFXR3524A to a 120V breaker. We aren't using a subpanel as shown in the schematics for the AC hot out. Do we actually need to connect AC hot out if the AC hot in is connected? I think I saw that the grid will be fed from the AC hot i...

Re: Generator considerations

@fcwlp: If there's not enough current to satisfy house loads, AC IN is dropped and the inverter draws battery power. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the only time the inverter drops the AC input is if the battery is fully charged. The 8048 manual terms this "offset": If the load demand is highe...

Re: Battery backup solution?

If I were you I would contact Solaredge directly to see what my options are for adding battery storage. This document https://www.solaredge.com/us/products/pv-inverter/single-phase#/ says two things about their inverters that seem in conflict with what you're saying: 1. "In addition to its functiona...

Re: 1.5.0 firmware release date?

That screenshot I posted showing fw v1.4.15 is from the web version. I haven't checked fw at the Skybox itself, but it wouldn't surprise me if it gave me a different indication than the web interface did - there are some things that aren't so straightforward to do at the web interface. Like Ampster ...

Re: Compatibility with SolarEdge Rapid Shutdown Optimizers?

The Enphase micros and Solaredge Optimizers natively have RSD at the module level. The M215s don't have an RSD function, they simply disconnect when there's no grid power detected. No way to manually shut them down with a pushbutton like later models can. If I understood the OPs question, it was wh...

Re: Skybox Aux Function

I don't have a wind turbine. I just increased the size of my battery pack with new LFP cells and I am excercising the pack more now that I am running in Self Consumption mode. it is a battery management issue. @Ampster: My post was directed at the OP, who does have a wind turbine. Sorry if that was...

Re: Compatibility with SolarEdge Rapid Shutdown Optimizers?

FWIW, I had Enphase M215 microinverters equipped PV modules AC coupled to my Skybox and they worked fine that way. They don't have any rapid shutdown capability but if your Solaredge units work as module level shutdown and don't require a Solaredge "downstream interface" (between the module string a...

Re: Skybox Aux Function

If your wind turbine can be set up to output 120 VAC then maybe the solution is to connect it to the SkyBox grid or maybe gen input. Then no issues with AC coupling.

Re: I need help

If you have a FlexnetDC with a shunt measuring the total charge current from your CC's then you can see the total current on the Mate3s by pressing the button below the battery icon. On the attached photo the top line "IN" shows total current. https://drive.google.com/file/d/10qxCE9tdHJ5IUWipzQXh_j8...

Re: Environmental extreme heat test in progress

My question is that in the Radian manual under the Grid Interactive Protection Frequencies, I cannot see anything that would say that 61.6 Hz is too low. Since the Radian has some advanced grid support functions, it's possible that it is detecting the grid frequency as above 60 Hz, somewhere betwee...

Re: AC Coupling in general to grid tied inverters

The GDI must support frequency shifting AC coupling Most grid dependent inverters do respond to grid frequency shift by disconnecting, but more modern ones incorporate grid support mechanisms as opposed to simply disconnecting when their grid or AC coupled connection isn't within optimum parameters...

Re: Environmental extreme heat test in progress

I do not think this is an ambient heat-related issue, but more due to grid conditions making it impossible for the inverters to push power into the grid. It goes back to pss's earlier post in this thread, where he referred to this app note: http://outbackpower.com/downloads/documents/appnotes/fm_gt_...

Re: Differentiating between Grid and Gen Set sources

Since the FXR's single AC input can accept either grid or generator power, I don't think there's any way it can distinguish which is actively supplying AC, and thus no way to indicate the source within Optics.

I didn't think much about the change to a more secure site - in fact, I thought it might be desirable. Now however, with the benefit of hindsight, this old maxim comes to mind:

"If it ain't broke, don't fix it".

Re: Need help deciding which equipment I need

Hi Ken - I won't make a specific recommendation as to an inverter - Outback's will certainly work for you - but whatever you choose, for your setup I would use your hydro as the "grid" input to the inverter, which will pass through the hydro power to your loads connected to the output. Outback's inv...

Looks like there’s an update available to version 1.5.8 on the firmware page released on 8/5. My Skybox still have not downloaded it yet. Anyone successfully applied this update? If you're looking at this page 20200810_190803.jpg from the Skybox product firmware page, I don't think that 1.5.8 versi...
