Re: Array 1920w or 2500w for FM80??

The datasheet shows for a 24V system:
- FM60 - 1,500W
- FM80 - 2,000W

Re: Radian 8048a Sell Back

On you Mate3, read up on the Grid Interface Protection menu. There is one value called "Sell Current Limit." Verify that it is set to 30A or change if it is not. I knew there was an app note about a firmware change that reduced values to 25% and I finally found it. Look at http://www.outbackpower.c...

Re: Inverter issues??

My experience is the inverter will throw an "AC Output Shorted" error before the breaker trips. I view it as more of a feature than a problem. The challenge is finding which of the branch breakers has the short.

The Grid Connect stuff is above my pay grade. There's a few other folks on this forum with direct experience in that, hopefully one will weigh in.

Re: Updating older equipment

OK, so i'm gonna do the grid tie through the transfer switch. Seems like a great idea. What kind of transfer switch and what amperage should I get? The transfer switch needs to be have a minimum rating of 60A. I prefer simple mechanical transfer switches. One that I have used is the Eaton DT223URH-...

Re: AGS Voltage Start Not Stopping Generator

On the absorb voltage point I admit I'm not an expert on this but I was going off the Hoppecke manual (https://www.hoppecke.com/fileadmin/Reda ... ual_EN.pdf) which has the Float Charge Voltage setting at 2.25V +/- 1% per cell (so 12 x 2.25V = 27 or 27.27V) I do realise this is the Float Charge Vol...

Re: Radian 8048a Sell Back

Hi Jason, based on your post, is it correct that you are selling something to the grid? If so, I would look at the "sell voltage" on the inverter. For a FLA battery it should normally be 1 to 1.5V below the float voltage. If you are not selling to the grid, then make sure you have "offset enable" se...

Re: Why is my generator not charging?

The generator was charging earlier today, when the battery was roughly at 70%. Why is it the GS8048A now in 'passthrough' Per your original question. The reason the inverter was in pass through mode was that the absorb time for LFP batteries was set to 1 hour per your installer following the Simpli...

Re: Power factor mismatch? Grid very low, SB=1

At steps 4 & 5, SB power draw was 100 watts. Note, this was done with the DC array shut off since with it on, for some reason Skybox stops using excessive grid power. So the 100W draw was from only the battery. If the DC array was active, what would the draw be at steps 4, 5 and 6? When you did the...

Re: Why is my generator not charging?

In OpticsRe, select the gear symbol at top right of Dashboard screen and initiate a start for the bulk charging option.

Question is why did it stop the charging cycle. What is your setting for absorb time on your inverter battery charging tab.

he pandemic caused a curious and annoying effect in my rural area (New River, AZ). We normally have very dark skies. I wonder why they are leaving the lights on. Re: AGS Voltage Start Not Stopping Generator

The "Battery Setup" screen as you noted is for the FNDC and is blank. The FNDC needs to be setup for the SOC to work correctly. Do you have a FNDC installed? I don't see it in your equipment list. If you have a FNDC, can you get the Mate3 hooked up to the internet to enable OpticsRE. It will take qu...

Peak voltage = RMS voltage × 2**(0.5)
= 120V × 1.41 = 169.2 volts.

*RMS = Root Mean Square
Good catch Mike.

I have not installed a SkyBox yet. OB products usually have a plethora of options (varies depending on if is a CC, Inverter or FNDC) for activating aux relays with both dry contacts and 12V contacts. The SkyBox Quick Start guide shows that it has the typical two relays. However the programming guide...

Re: To much power!!

I would first unplug anything electronic that might be sensitive to high voltages. You have too high of voltage, not too much power. You show one 3048T inverter; is that correct? On a Radian, I saw high voltage on one leg and low on the other when there was a bad neutral. On the Mate3 go to the inve...

On the Mate3 AGS menu, do you have: - SOC Start Enable -> Enabled If so what are the settings for: - Stop SOC - Enable Full Charge Take a look at page 31 of the Mate3 programming guide. It gives a table of what stops the generator for various AGS start conditions. For a 2 minute start it should stop...

Re: Power factor mismatch? Grid very low, SB=1

For testing you could try isolating the SkyBox completely and make it look like an off-grid system with only a DC array. A possible logical way to do this and startup sequence from is: 1) Open both 50A breakers in the House PNL 2) Open all breakers in the Barn Main PNL 3) Disconnect phone, CATV, and...

no, after testing the connection you're describing, I reconnected the 30 panel ground to the original earth ground, which also is connected to the Barn panel ground. Did you check the SkyBox power draw with this ground disconnected? Since the 30 panel array does not need a GEC, I would recommend re...

Re: Power factor mismatch? Grid very low, SB=1

The wiring for the 30 panel IG model array does bring a ground conductor down from the microinverters (no idea where or how it's connected inside them, all the wiring was prefabbed, all I got were 4 conductors to terminate from the end of the string) along with 2 - 120 volts hots and a neutral. I b...

Yes, that's is good news that each string is working but at a reduced max output. But regarding the output if there was a degradation within the panels themselves due to the failures mentioned above there "should" would be a diversity in the measurement of output. Some panels would be working bette...
