Re: OpticsRE Offline

If you have data logging enabled on firmware 1.4.2, the replay file function would automatically upload the data to OPTICS after reconnecting. Unfortunately, if you had an older version of firmware installed when it disconnected, and/or data logging was not enabled, the replay file function would no...

Hi Clarke, happy new year! We do not have an exchange program at this time BUT we do plan to roll out a program to encourage installers to try the newest model soon. Within a few months, you will be able to register to receive a cash rebate by sending in a new OPTICS site name with an operational FM...

Re: AC coupled - batteries not charging from solar array during outage

Hi S/D, I looked at the last few days of history, and though the system seems to perform as expected, I see the FN-DC still reports 70 days since parms met. I will try to find out why. I would not worry about it affecting performance at this point.

Hi Chris, you may want to contact for our inside sales team for references to OutBack installers in Baja. I cannot guarantee we will have any references in your area, but it is worth a call!

Re: Changing router to Netgear Orbi

Hi there, if the MATE3 is set to use DHCP (default), then it should reconnect to OPTICS automatically as soon as it has internet connection. Best to keep the MATE3 wired directly to the primary new router for the fastest connection, too.

You are correct it is not present in OPTICS, as the legacy gateway devices do not have a Sunspec register to support this function.

Re: 2009 manufacture date fm80 compared to 2018 model

Hi Mike, as JNH says, if you do NOT connect the two controllers via a HUB for coordinated operation, you should NOT experience any problems. However, if you desire coordinated operation, differences in firmware may cause issues. Unlike the new FM100, the FM80 firmware must be updated at our service ...

Re: Can only charge battery bank with AC input

Hello, I can help with this specific question: "Opticsre shows AC coupling is enabled, yet, the Outback Power (local network software) shows AC coupling is disabled???" There are two AC Coupled settings - one is under the MATE3(s) gateway settings for the old, ROCB hardware-based. The new, frequency...

Re: Fxr2524a-01 aux port for gen start but running fan

Hi Mike, the Turbo fan is really only necessary when operating in an especially hot environment. Removing it may result in a small decrease in maximum output in especially hot conditions. The manual is a good resource for the Aux output functions, including AGS, starting on page 26 - http://www.outb...

Re: Difference between A vs A-01 Inverters

Hi Mike, OutBack started producing only A-01 model inverters several years ago. The -01 suffix indicates the inverter hardware and firmware was upgraded to comply with new UL 1741 SA rules. Some resellers still list our inverters without the -01 suffix for simplicity, but there is virtually no inven...

Hi James, have you thought about trying the "Support" Input Mode on the inverter? "Support: This mode is intended for systems using utility grid or a generator. In some cases the amount of current available from the source is limited due to size, wiring, or other reasons. If large loads need to be r...

Hi S/D! I am travelling with very limited internet access until 12/9. Your first question about the missing menu settings. It sounds to me like you are in the user-level menus (3 digit password), not the installer-level menus (4 digit password). The Installer-level contains all of the user-level set...

Re: Seeking clarity on max. array power

Kurt is correct, and I am partially responsible for the various numbers. First, our new manuals coming out with the FM100 AFCI will all say max. 3500 W of connected PV. We started including power output in watts for folks who look for that spec, but the 6,000W power rating is really 100 A at any rea...
