Re: Another Mate3 Ethernet issue

The latest radian firmware only supported Mate3s. My Mate 3 kept rebooting due to incompatibility and was upgraded at no cost to me by outback during the warranty period. That solved all problems.

Re: Another Mate3 Ethernet issue

You are playing loose with the terms Mate 3 and Mate 3S. The Mate 3 is discontinued. And the Mate 3 will not play nice with a Radian on the latest firmware. Please make sure only Mate 3 firmware is flashed to a Mate 3 and Mate 3S firmware to a Mate 3S. Mixing them is BAD.

When the big storm hits the island, it will be a historic video of those panels for Nat Geo channel. If I survive an 8 or 9 quake, my plan is to sit outdoors and live in my tent, drink my pond water and use my camping toilet until help arrives. One nice thing about a socialist state is they sell you...

Re: GS8048A Board failures

IMO you need to add a 3rd Flexmax 80 to your system and IMO 10,800 rated watts of PV is not enough to reliably use your batteries (1600 amps at 20 hours) and say depend on them for a 25-40% use each day and recharge them with only 10,800 watts rated. Simply put, arrays are too small, charge controll...

150K on an island is a decent price for all you got. Here in So Cal, we just mosey over to a place called CED Greentech, a Walmart of solar at wholesale prices, everything in stock except concrete. As for being on the island, please take excellent photos of the before, because there is no solar pane...

"can someone please help".
You don't want help from forum members, you just want to post your complaint.

Wow, 958 amps, over 4400 pounds. My 32 Trojans T105 weigh 2080 pounds. Looks like a nicely wrapped, expensive power storage system.

Re: Switching Optics owners- can someone please help???

From the mate3 menu, locate the mac address of the mate3 itself.
Provide this information to Outback support and have them migrate the old data to your new account. Maybe give them serial number too.

Optics only allows for a Mac address to be associated with one account.

Re: array temperature question

Whoa, whoa, whoa. I've already posted significant info on panel temperatures and power output. Search the forum. Forget tape. Know the ambient temperature, use a laser thermometer and point it at the panel surface, then the nearby ground. You will see how much hotter the panel surface becomes. I'm i...

There's a new Polar Power 20kw DC generator for sale on eBay at close to the price of a Honda eu7000. That will charge a big battery bank.

Actually, now that I think about it, instead of an inverter, just connect a bunch of high quality PC power supplies to the batteries and wire most loads as DC. I like the PC though.

Re: Charge Controlles Go to Silent

I think useless. Why? Blowing air simply doesn't work. The intake air is hot. it needs to be cool to cool down the components to avoid performance degradation. My system is a Radian 8048A in my garage. In shade with ambient temps up to 115 degrees and loads up to 6000 watts, if you try to blow air, ...

Re: Charge Controlles Go to Silent

Folks, pedestal fans will not cool your system. You can try blowing air into and out of a cooler filled with ice (construct this using 4" dryer vent ducts with powered duct fans outputting from the cooler (low power consumption) into the intake vents of an inverter, you can try building a Peltier pl...

What is the average amount of sunlight at your geographic location in summer and winter? 3. What...

Re: HBX together with grid-tie? (post-outage 5-minute UL1741 lockout)

I don't think anybody has played around like you are asking. If I remember correctly, hbx is inverter stored, the other battery protection settings mate stored. Some settings cannot be used with hbx, they conflict. I keep hbx off. I program my battery connect and disconnect voltages. I keep auto gri...

If I may, what is the capacity of your pool heat pump in btu's? What is the size in HP of the pool's pump. What is the capacity of the pool? What is the water temperature without the heat pump and how much are you trying to raise it to? Heat pumps take a lot of electricity to run, more so than a sol...

Re: Adding more batteries and panels

Simon, Lots to chew here. First off the inverter could care less how big a battery bank you have. It consumes DC power from a source and inverts to AC. When it runs out of DC, it shuts off. You only need a larger capacity inverter if you increase your loads to where the current inverter cannot handl...

Re: Question, Battery Charge Settings/Defaults, Generator Run-Time Too long

The inverter has it's own memory and firmware. If you reset the mate, the settings currently programmed into the inverter will still be there and read by the Mate when it's back up. As for increasing efficiency, adding old low power panels is not the way. As for adding a charge controller, it is pos...

Re: Question, Battery Charge Settings/Defaults, Generator Run-Time Too long

This is the classic mistake of not understanding solar power, batteries, charge controllers and inverters. A battery system lives to charge batteries. Inverters live to suck amps from batteries. Loads live to suck power from the inverter. All must be balanced and sized accordingly. Too much PV outpu...

Just taking a stab at this after reading thread. As I understand it, your charge controllers go silent with available PV and you are in grid tied sell mode. Batteries are charged. As I reviewed the thread, everywhere I see 120 volt connection to grid and output from inverters. I have not seen any ph...
