Yes, date and time are correct on the Mate 3S and on Optics RE.

Re: OpticsRE changes don't take...

You have to make certain that when you make a change in Optics RE that you click on the apply tab at the bottom of the form and then make sure the happy green cloud shows up to confirm application of your changes. Then they should be immediate. Of course, some parameters may be on timers and will no...

Re: Mate 3S Grid Use interval 1 Weekday Stop FAILURE

On March 28, I physically power cycled my Mate 3S.
On March 29, again, the Radian inverter failed to drop the connection to the grid that was programmed in the Mate 3S. I then physically chose to drop the AC input by using the Mate 3S AC Input tab and DROP command.

I haven't changed my settings in months either.

Re: Time of use rates still using battery when grid price is low

Mike:

My post is similar (from last night). On Tuesday and Friday of this week I found my system still using grid instead of batteries when time of use rates were high. I think there is a new software glitch somewhere.

Mate 3S Grid Use interval 1 Weekday Stop FAILURE

For the first time on March 24, and again today on March 27, the Mate 3S Grid Use Interval 1 weekday time stop failed to disconnect my Radian from the grid and place it into battery only mode (for 5 hours) for time of use savings . My event log displays the Interval 1 disconnect, but the grid use wa...

Re: technical problems

When the fan comes on in the charge controller is not programmable. Try to measure temps using a hand held laser thermometer you can buy in many stores. Report temps here, like at vents.
Next question: do you observe mate physically reboot or just by looking at events reported in Optics RE?

Re: heavy load causing voltage drop

In my prior post I spoke about the surge watts needed to start the motor. This means that the core has to go from still to spinning. And it's heavy. That's why there is a surge power requirement of power, maybe 40,000 watts for a couple of seconds, more than a single radian supplies. Once the motor ...

Re: Grid Sell Voltage Setpoint Stuck

The sell voltage has nothing to do with the battery voltage settings. Only your charge controller settings and inverter charger settings control the battery voltages you should observe. Also, remember battery voltage is really only accurately reported at the battery terminals using a meter on them, ...

Re: Time of Use and Grid Tie Sell

Just remember, when you call Outback, they will not provide information on how to set up your system parameters. They will really only tell you how to operate their equipment and troubleshoot it if it is broken. I higher sell point lets my batteries stay at higher voltage, but mine are FLA. Lithium ...

Re: So what did I burn up

The lesson to be learned here is to use your meter as much as possible at every point along a circuits right from the panel to the final outlets. Install a panel, ground it, put your meter on the positive and negative. Make sure it works. Do this for every panel. Connect a panel in series (adding up...

Re: Time of Use and Grid Tie Sell

On my charge controllers, I set my absorb at 58.6 volts for 4 hours. My float is at 54.8 and my sell is at 54.8. My daytime load is always about 2.8 or higher. When my batteries hit the voltage parameter, selling begins, even though my batteries are not fully charged. In fact, my SOC can be as low a...

Re: AC input mode

I have a Radian, not your model inverter. But in the Mate 3 and 3S, there is a user password and an INSTALLER password. Some of the menus are only available by entering with the installer password, not the user password, maybe this will help.

Okay, this is my opinion based on my experiences with my "woodshop" and my PV system. My largest motor is a 5 HP 1 phase Delta Unisaw, I believe the motor is Baldor. After speaking with Delta, I was told my startup surge watts for this motor are 32,000 watts!. When I start my saw, I make certain tha...

Mate 3S / Global Charge / Auto Grid-Tie Control set to DISABLED

This usually solves your problem because the parameters are reset at midnight in the software which is why you are having to reset the system to sell each day. This tab solves that.

Re: Time of Use and Grid Tie Sell

I have found that when I use Grid Zero, there is always that connection to the grid and my baseline cost from the grid is about 500 watts per hour. Add this up over the month as prime rates and it gets expensive. When I use Minigrid, I seem to see less total PV output, almost like if the batts are c...

Time of Use and Grid Tie Sell

I thought I would post a screenshot from March 22, 2020 of my system's activity for the day. The output being shown was in real time today, not from yesterday. The graphed data is from yesterday. My system is set for a grid tie sell voltage of 54.8. The system is also set to disconnect from the grid...

Re: Honda EU7000is

This is exactly what concerns me. We have a 500 gallon propane tank on premises and I can get another. But I don't see how a gas fuel injected engine can be efficiently converted to propane. Seems it should be built to run propane only. A gallon of gas has 32,500 more BTUs than gallon of propane. Di...

Re: Honda EU7000is

I have done these calculations: The EU7000is is rated at 5500 watts continuous load. It is rated for 12 hours at half load, ie. 2750 watts. Is has a 5.1 gallon fuel tank. Therefore, 5.1 gallons of gas produces 2750 kW x 12 hours = 33,000 watts for half a day and 66,000 watts for a full day using 10....

Re: Mode recommendations for selling power but also cycling batteries?

It is my opinion that in order to reach your manufacturer's peak charging voltages, you need to charge either by grid or without selling on certain days or times. If your sell voltage is 52, your batteries don't reach 58 volts during the day even though they may reach 100 % soc on fndc. A simple sol...

Re: Integration of third charger controller. In to a pre-wired

The Mate 3s plugs into the lowest numbered port on hub. There are ports for 2 mates. After those ports, plug in master inverter, slave inverters, then charge controllers and lastly fndc. Don't skip ports. Don't mess with the order. The hub is not a plain old Ethernet switch. I have only used outback...

Re: equiliz charging

You ask why doesn't the controller take it's full power? Well all batteries have a resistance to charging. All batteries, even in a Tesla, have a limitation of how many volts and how many amps they can safely accept without overheating and possibly exploding or boiling over or catching fire. These p...
