Re: Compatibility with SolarEdge Rapid Shutdown Optimizers?

FWIW, I had Enphase M215 microinverters equipped PV modules AC coupled to my Skybox and they worked fine that way. They don't have any rapid shutdown capability but if your Solaredge units work as module level shutdown and don't require a Solaredge "downstream interface" (between the module string ...

Re: 1.5.0 firmware release date?

Firmware has been updated to 1.5.11. Now TOU scheduling does not work. Anyone having the same issues? I am not on that release yet. Several months ago I had a problem with TOU scheduling because you have to use the screen on the unit. The one on the web version is in Universal Time which is -7 hour...

Mine says the same thing. I looked on the website and there is a page that is mostly blank about firmware but it shows an example of the firmware update screen at the bottom it says Release date 05 August 2020 Here is the link. http://outbackpower.com/resources/technical-support/firmware-updates/ite...

Re: Skybox Aux Function

If your wind turbine can be set up to output 120 VAC then maybe the solution is to connect it to the SkyBox grid or maybe gen input. Then no issues with AC coupling. I don't have a wind turbine. I just increased the size of my battery pack with new LFP cells and I am excercising the pack more now t...

Re: Skybox Aux Function

I have an interest is some use of the Aux function not related to generator start. I have a BMS connected to a contactor that opens if my BMS senses a Low Voltage or high voltage event. Those setting are outside my settings in the Skybox and would only be used if the Skybox failed LVD or HVD. I have...

Re: Compatibility with SolarEdge Rapid Shutdown Optimizers?

I have a newly installed 12.24kW system from Tesla. It has 3 strings feeding a SolarEdge SE10000H 10kW Inverter with Rapid Shutdown. I'm looking at adding the SkyBox for AC coupling and adding batteries to my system. My thought is to take 1 of the strings and feed it into the Skybox instead of the ...

Re: Question about AC coupling

Okay, I disconnected my EV charger breaker which is on the critical loads panel (Inverter Out) and got it working through that. I don't know why I thought I could do it through the generator port. Something about it being bidirectional in some Webinar, but that is why I asked because I could not fin...

Re: Question about AC coupling

I have been AC coupling 4 Enphase inverters through my critical loads panel and it works great. I now want to move my Solaredge inverter over to the critical loads panel but I am tight on breaker space. I have heard you can run it through the generator input but I don't see any settings for that. Th...

Re: 1.5.0 firmware release date?

I haven't seen anything about 1.5.0.
My Skybox says it checked yesterday and I have 1.4.15
I refreshed it and it doesn't say there is a newer one as of today.

Re: Time of use rates still using battery when grid price is low

I did finally file a support case and as I suspected it was something simple that I had overlooked, When I tried to setup the battery on the web interface I did not scroll down to the custom setting so I just left it at none. That was all it took for the TOU setting to work. When I set they battery ...

Nothing new to report. From rereading this thread I see you are using AC Coupling also. I wonder if that is having any impact?
I filed a Technical Support Case and don't want to change my settings until the weekend in case they want to look at my Opticsre.

Re: Time of use rates still using battery when grid price is low

Still no change after changing to Self Consumption. I did notice that the Enable TOU button is light green and you can't change it but it says they are enabled.
I will change to non export and see if that does anything. I probably need to wait for a day cycle to complete.

Re: Time of use rates still using battery when grid price is low

I tried that and gave it another day after rebooting my inverter and got nothing. Maybe I will try another AC profile to see if it works on one of those. I will take pictures of my screens and post here. I want to have the documentation for Outback if I have to call them.

Re: Time of use rates still using battery when grid price is low

I set it for 10:00 AM from the panel on the Skybox last night and at 11AM today it still does not go to batteries. The start date defaulted to 1/1/16 and I used daily even though this is a weekend. I will try some other variations like weekday and 1/1/2020 and see what happens tomorrow. If that does...

Thanks I will try that. I had a complicated schedule that I programmed from the web interface and it never worked. I just input a simple one directly on the screen on the unit. Interestingly when I went to check it on the web interface it said "In Use" and I could not access it. It is scheduled to s...

TOU cost of grid energy $.35 from 3PM to 7PM Battery at 99% SOC Cost of battery energy $.20 Time of Use Rates Enabled I did read in the the release notes f...

Re: Enphase Envoy microinverter detection thru Skybox

I just read on another forum that one of the limitations of M215 microinverters is that they can't be curtailed. I think what that means is they can't be modulated by frequency. In other words they are either on or off, nothing in between. Maybe that is what you are seeing. Have you ever seen them a...

Re: Enphase Envoy microinverter detection thru Skybox

My SolarEdge and my IQ7s are Rule compliant and total less that 5kW so either way it works for me. Any mention of the ratio of the GTIs and battery kWhrs? I wonder if there is any limitation now that the inverters can be modulated more effectively.

Re: Enphase Envoy microinverter detection thru Skybox

If that is the case that is good news. That conservative ratio of GTI kW to kWhrs for batteries is probably old information. I may consider AC coupling my main 5.7kW system as well as my small Enphase system. That 5.7 kW system is constrained by the 3.8kW Solaredge Inverter so I don't think I am any...

Re: Enphase Envoy microinverter detection thru Skybox

All of this is related to the situation when the grid is down and the Skybox is trying to modulate the Grid Tie Inverter. If the Enphase Inverters can't be programmed for HECO OR Rule 21 then I think Outback recommends a lower max size PV to be AC coupled. However this FAQ may provide the practical ...

Re: Enphase Envoy microinverter detection thru Skybox

The M215 may be compliant with SA, but can they be programmed to HECO or CA Rule 21?

The othe relevant question is what PV to battery capacity ratio does Outback recomend for the Grid Tie Inverter to safely AC couple.

Re: Enphase Envoy microinverter detection thru Skybox

One of the limitations on AC coupling may be the size of your battery pack. Lithium can be more forgiving than Lead Acid and can often take a higher current. Since you stated that you had SimpliPhi battery pack you may want to see what they say, I am just rewiring a small Enphase system to AC couple...

Firmware update failure.

A couple months ago I was updating the firmware on my Skybox and the system locked. I tried to rollback to the previous release but it would still not start the inverter. The display worked, the fans were running but the inverter would not turn on. I made a service request and Outback shipped me a n...
