Re: Help! Need to identify Flexware box and get manual!

Per the dimensions, it sounds like our FLEXware 500 box. These have a dedicated model for the AC and DC side of the system. Check out the manual to see which side matches your breaker slots: http://outbackpower.com/downloads/documents/flexware/flexware500_usersguide.pdf The AC side has din rail vs. ...

Re: Multiple A/C Inputs??

Can the inverter accept AC input form different sources? (I assume NOT at the same time) So basically would I need some sort of 'switch' on my ac inputs to designate WHICH ac input is moving into the inverter? This is correct, you will need an external transfer switch. It may be either manual or au...

Re: Fw500 to fw1000

Correct.

As long as you maintain the same ratio of 10,000:1 you can up size your shunt. ie. 500A/50mV or 1000A/100mV
This way you can parallel multiple devices on a single shunt.

Re: Fw500 to fw1000

Hi,

Only one FNDC/HUB/MATE may be used per system.

Although technically you can combine two FW500 systems after considering combining your proper DC and AC connections. Having a 1000 solution is preferred.

Apart from the white paper for GridZero. You can find videos that explains how it works and how to program. Follow this link:

Re: NetZero, battery charging, and lost PV production

The reason why you were producing substantially more when in grid tied its because energy had a place to go after the loads where powered. In GZ mode since it's design to prevent selling back and use the grid power only in key moments ie. surges from loads exceeding DoD Amps and when batteries are b...

Re: Chargers on only with generator

Hi,

The charger control is a global command. Once its off it will remain disabled regardless of the conditions. At this point it will need to be manually adjusted based on your AC source.
For more information you can look at page 59 from the MATE3 Manual.

Re: Changing from Grid tie to Using my Batteries

Hi Bernie, Typically sub-panels are sized to the rated capacity of the inverter installed however if you think they are over sized then shedding some breakers would be good so you don't over load it. If you want an automatic function to disconnect to grid when the sun is shinning then HBX would be a...

Re: Changing from Grid tie to Using my Batteries

Hi Bernie, The charge controllers don't necessarily need to be changed for off-grid use vs. Grid-tied. The "GT mode" feature in our charge controllers is a way to communicate between the inverter and CC. So when it starts to sell, it tells the CC to "open the flood gates" and push as much current as...

Re: DC Breaker

The 75 value is the rated amps so the manual is recommending a 125A breaker or as Kurt mentioned the breaker is to protect the wire so you can also use a 175A breaker using 2/0 cable. OutBack's breaker are 100% duty cycle so there is no need to add a derate factor and can be integrated into OB hardw...

Re: GVFX programming for load leveling

Hi Bill, It could work if you don't want this to be automated. The mate does have a "Grid-Use" feature, which allows you to connect/disconnect from the grid based on time of the day. When you intend to charge the batteries from 12-4 just turn off the sell feature vs. when you want to sell during pea...

Re: Battery bank size

For larger battery capacities its recommended to go with lower voltage batteries/higher amp-hour, that way you can stick with only one string instead of multiple strings. This will reduce the risk of unbalance charging/discharging. Look into our EnergyCell High Capacity batteries: http://outbackpowe...

Re: Dumb question - inverter enable

Bill, From the MATE3 you can check the inverter control by pressing the "Inverter" hot button. It should be turned "ON", then make sure you read 120Vac from the output terminals from the unit itself. A green light should also lit up once it senses AC OUT voltage. I would also suggest to double check...

Hi, Actually the MX/FM60 have no filters, the the grill you see from the front, it's all it has. Servicing the fan can be a bit tricky but can be done. Here is a service manual that shows you how to: http://legacy.outbackpower.com/pdf/manuals/mx60_fan_replacement.pdf Since the fan forces the air out...

Re: equalize without generator

Peter,

The MATE3 can now send a global EQ command to all chargers, so you can start it by pressing the "Charger" button then "EQ Charge" finally "Start EQ".
You can also check the timers and status in this screen.

Hope this helps,

Hi Tim,

The "M" model inverters do not offer Generator Support. Currently the only ones that do are:

GFX - Low Powered
FXR Series
Radian Series
OBXG - Extreme models

Hope this helps,

Re: FX2524T or GFX1424?

Hello, All Outback inverers can be used as "off-grid" (battery backup) the only difference with "G" models is that they expect a good quality source. At times when a generator is connected to the inverter it may or may not connect which is why we don't recommend them for the application. Like stated...

Re: Low Battery Cutout Voltage

Hello JR, The inverter must hit at or above the low battery cut in (LBCI) in order to resume operation otherwise a hard reset will force it to resume. What do you have it set to? It maybe that your renewable sources weren't able to charge the batteries up to that point at the time of the occurrence....

Re: Mate backup battery

Hi Mike,

The battery is only used as a back-up for the real time clock, If you notice that the time is off once disconnecting it from the hub/device then i would advice changing it. The mate retains its memory regardless of the battery.
Replacement battery is a 3V lithium CT2032.

Unfortunately a grid-tied model will not stack properly with an off-grid model. They will conflict.
