Re: Gotta Start Somewhere

Like he said above, you need about 1300-1500 watts for a MIN. of 5% charge rate for your 840aHr bank. Depending on how far down you take your bank, it would take quite a while to get it charged back up with the 1200 watts you have. Recommended is 7-10% charge rate that would put you in the 2500-3000...

Re: Am I seeing things?

Yes, that looks about right, Thats what the MPPT will do. it will convert the higher voltages down with more amps if needed to charge your batteries.

Here's mine one day.

I only have 2 x 230 Watt Panels attached in series.

Re: Gotta Start Somewhere

Parallel strings are usually trouble if more than 2. Uneven charging, unless you make sure ALL the connections are EQUAL distance. Make sure you fuse/breaker each string, in case of failure of a battery, etc... You default settings looks pretty good, you should check with the mfr of the batteries an...

Re: FM 80, 48 volt string to 24 volt batteries

I assume 2 panels in series and each pair in parallel. So you should have like 60+ volts and about 16 amps coming into the Charge Controller. do you have a pic of your data on the screen of your charge controller? SOunds like you have everything you need. Breaker should be about 1.25 x the max outpu...

Re: Gotta Start Somewhere

It will go into the MPPT Bulk during it cycle, usually first thing in the morning when it start tracking to bring the battery (bank) up to the high setpoint, like 28.8-29.0 volts for a certain period, Then go into ABSORB Mode for a set time or end amps depending on how you set up your controller, th...

Re: FM 80, 48 volt string to 24 volt batteries

Just remember to hook the batteries up first to the controller and it should sense the battery bank voltage correctly. If not, you can set it in the menu. The FM80 can handle up to 150VDC input. So, your 48 Volts input is fine. How are you running your panels? All in Parallel? or series / Parallel c...

Re: FM60 Issue?

You might have the Auto Start (Auto ReStart) mode set to 1 or 2. This setting allows the user to choose between continuous MPP tracking or occasional restarts of the sweeping process. A restart means the controller abandons the existing maximum power point and ÔÇ£re-sweepsÔÇØ, or begins gathering ne...

Re: FM60 Data

Dec. update. All batteries have been fully charged, mostly float mode, water and SG's are perfect. The 2 panels are keeping them up great. I see the Vmax from the panels have increased due to the cold weather, I have seen 74-79 volts MAX on the input on certain days in the log. I am very happy with ...

Re: How are two FLEXmax CCs used?

I believe you can parallel more than one CC to a single battery bank thru proper wiring. Once you exceed the limit of the one Controller in VOLTS and/or WATTS from your PV array, then you need a secondary CC from your other PV arrays. It also depends on how you wire your system based on your require...

Re: What happens when battery is disconnected abruptly

It sounds like there is an overvoltage disconnect (relay or something) to the batteries? Do you know what the setting are in the FM80? Maybe there are setting for the AUX outputs and it controls something based on certain values you can set or that are already set in the controller. If the PV panels...

Re: End amps and absorb time

Possibly, I think most of the time it reaches abs and float quite early in the day. There are NO loads typically, the inverters and breakers to the house are off when no one is there. It's a summer home. I wasn't sure if the CC counts down if it reaches the high limit on the MPPT Bulk stage early, i...

on my FM60. I've had the ABSORB set to 1 hour (default I believe), it's been ABS for 1 hour for the past 3 weeks according to the data (just put it online and brand new batteries Exide GC135). however, the past week, The ABS has been lowering itself to 45 mins? Is that because the bulk charge time i...

I know it's an old thread, but my TM500 24V system battery monitor started blanking out also, it's been working for many years. Re: FM 60 excessive snoozing

Check all you connections coming in from the PV panels.
Sounds like its loosing its connection from the PV panels and forcing it into sleep mode for some reason or theres a problem with the controller.
Does it WAKE up and start tracking/charging again after a while?

I/m just learning too. My system has only been online for about 3 weeks (see MY other thread FM60 DATA). Doesn't look like you are getting a good charge or you have too much load and the batteries are not coming up to a good charge, since it doesn't look like it goes into Absorb or Float mode. How l...
